Pinterest has quickly entered the world of social media, with over 250 million monthly users and over 175 billion pinned images as of September 2018. If you live under a rock, Pinterest is a visual bookmarking site where users pin things they find interesting. or attractive; The site also took on an e-commerce role, as people and businesses could sell stuff there.
Like many successful innovations, Pinterest has sparked a few similar sites, some outright copycats, and others trying to expand the concept in other directions. So if Pinterest isn’t enough or you’re looking for something different, here are ten Pinterest alternatives worth checking out.
side post
Juxtapost started out as a broader portfolio of wedding and dining images that dominated early Pinterest. Now it’s a major competitor for Pinterest, offering content that’s as rich, useful, and beautiful as the market leader.
We Heart
We Heart It is for teenage girls and young women. It looks simpler than Pinterest, but has a very active population and some pretty good pictures along with gift guides to help you shop. It’s the community that really makes this worthwhile, but only if you’re in the target demographic.
dribbling
Dribbble is like a Pinterest portfolio for visual and graphic designers and design professionals. There are thousands of ‘shots’ (dribbling talk for pins) in almost every category you can think of. A great place to find inspiration or find a design professional for a project.
DudePins
DudePins is exactly what it says on the box: a board for men. Pinterest is still largely dominated by women and female-focused images, and DudePins is one for men. Luckily the site includes so much more than trucks, girls and guns! Although there are loads of trucks, girls and guns.
manteresting
Manteresting is another male-focused Pinterest wannabe, but it’s actually mainly about trucks, girls, and guns. Ok, mostly girls. I searched for other things but couldn’t find more than thousands and thousands of pictures of attractive women displaying their breasts. I must have spent three hours looking for other content.
FoodGawker
FoodGawker is another self-explanatory name for a food-focused Pinterest. It’s a great place to find new recipes or great food pictures. Just try not to surf with this at work because what comes out of the vending machine won’t look like what you see here!
notCot
NotCot is a place for people to showcase their own unique creations. An interesting site with a funky do-it-yourself vibe.
Pearl Trees
PearlTrees is a simple looking website, but it’s much deeper than you might think. Trees are contextual, while connecting different ideas, pearls are images that you think are quite special. The interface has a lot to offer once you master it.
home talk
Hometalk is Pinterest for the home. If you are looking for inspiration or beautiful pictures of beautiful homes, this is the place for you. There are thousands of images in many categories and they are quite diverse.
Fancy
Fantasy is totally cool. Still great products. It’s a board full of niche products, and it’s part marketplace and part pin site. You can buy most or all of the products on the website in a mix of Etsy and Pinterest. Beautifully made too.
