Lately, Reddit changed the way its API works, which made it harder (and more expensive) for third-party apps to access the site. This makes it much harder for moderators to manage their subreddits, which has caused some to shut down for a few days in protest.
Today another subreddit is closing its doors forever, Minecraft’s. Mojang Studios broke the bad news to the subreddit’s 7 million subscribers. Therefore, future announcements about Minecraft will no longer be posted on Reddit, but on other official channels of the game.
When it comes to Minecraft, we’re dealing with the shutdown of an official community here, a place where fans can get help and information directly from the developers. The subreddit will remain in place, but only as a community discussion hub. Therefore, players should say goodbye to official information or other interactions with developers.
