Tinder has to be one of the most famous dating apps ever. In an environment where millions of users worldwide swipe left and right, any singleton must be inside to win. But what if you don’t want to stare at your smartphone looking at thumbnails all day? If that sounds like you, there is a way to use Tinder online with your PC.
Tinder does not have an official PC app, it limits itself to iOS and Android. There are a number of apps that claim to help you use Tinder on your desktop, and most of them with little or no success. There are many websites that offer some form of desktop access for Tinder, but I haven’t found any that actually work. One couple simply downloads the adware and others redirect you to ARC Welder for Chrome or other browser extensions. I haven’t been able to get any of them working.
I found only one way that works fine, using the Android app and an Android emulator called Bluestacks. I’ve covered Bluestacks before as I have Android emulator for PC. Very useful for testing Android apps or using custom mobile apps on my desktop. Apps like Tinder. It’s not the only Android emulator on the market, I use Andy OS too, but Bluestacks is the easiest to use and most stable.
Tinder on desktop
This is really the only reliable way I know of to get Tinder online and working on a desktop. You can use Google Play Store to get the app or you can manually download the APK and install it yourself, it will work either way.
The only downside of Bluestacks is that it is not free. The website makes no mention of the truth at all. One will be free and then you will be required to pay $24 per year to continue using it or to allow random apps downloads from sponsors. Despite this shady app, the app itself is very good.
- Download and install Bluestacks on your PC. The installation will take some time but it should run smoothly.
- Log into your Google account from within Bluestacks and install the Google Play Store.
- Find the Tinder app in the store and install it.
- Find the Facebook app in the store and install it as well.
- Sign in to both and start using Tinder.
If you’re already a member, you’re ready to go. If you’re not a current Tinder user, read on.
Setting up your Tinder account
Tinder requires a Facebook login to work, and I don’t know of a reliable workaround that prevents this. So, if you want to keep your Tinder activities private, I suggest you create a fake Facebook account and fill it with random stuff first. You will also need your mobile phone number to verify your account.
- Sign in to Tinder via Bluestacks.
- Connect it to your real or new fake Facebook account.
- Let Tinder verify using your number. The number will not go to the Internet.
- Press the request code and add the code contained in the SMS and press Send code.
- Click Start Playing to enter Tinder.
Now that the mechanics are taken care of, it’s time to create your Tinder profile. Here are some basic guidelines for creating a successful Tinder profile.
picture – Refine the picture while wearing something cool, in a nice pose. Make sure the person is taking good care of your face and that you are smiling or looking relaxed. Image is often the only thing someone will look at before scrolling, so do it well. Make your main image as good as possible and then add more to create a more comprehensive picture of your life.
Profile – Make your profile interesting and make it stand out. Use some humor, belittle yourself and don’t be serious. While it’s possible to find love on Tinder, that’s not what most users aim for. They want to have a good time, so be someone they can have a good time with.
Interaction – There are millions of Tinder users, so don’t get lost in the crowd. Never say ‘Hello’ when communicating with someone. Be interesting, read their profile and highlight something within the first few lines. Be humorous if possible, keep it simple and ‘want to hang out?’ don’t start with or some like that will not work.
The more effort you put into your Tinder profile, the more successful it will be. If you don’t look like Megan Fox or Tom Hardy, you’re going to have to work hard to get noticed. Think of it as an investment. The more work you put into Tinder, the more you get.
