Instagram is still copying TikTok by extending the duration of Reels to 90 seconds

Since the launch of its reels, Instagram seems determined to copy the TikTok formula. Indeed, the comparison between the functionality and the Chinese social network was clear, especially as the Meta platform is still trying to attract more people to this new section. That’s why the addition of voice synthesis and voice modifiers are among the many improvements that have come to expand the offering since its release.

But Instagram obviously doesn’t intend to stop there. Today the social network announced the arrival of several new features to improve the experience of Reels users. As expected, the platform has decided to extend their length. Creators will now be able to stream up to 90 seconds of videos that are currently up to 60 seconds.

Instagram will allow longer reels to be posted

This innovation is not really surprising, as Instagram took inspiration from TikTok to develop its own version of the app. So while its Chinese rival continues to stretch the length of its videos, now planning to go up to 10 minutes, it was only a matter of time before Instagram decided to do the same. Note, however, that the Meta platform is still reluctant to go to such extremes.

Among other new features, Instagram has announced the arrival of Templates that will allow creators to easily sync their videos with music. They will also be able to access the entire library of sound effects and add stickers as well as their own audio tracks, just like in Stories. Finally, it will be possible to conduct polls and add new ways of interacting with its community.
