Instagram didn’t fool anyone in 2019 when it introduced Reels, a (rather pale, admittedly) clone of TikTok. The aim, of course, is to compete with its Chinese competitor, which holds the top position among the youngest Internet users, even if that means being very obviously inspired by all the features offered by the latter. Extending the length of TikTok videos? Instagram does the same on its own. And such.
Still, a feature that some would consider essential has long been built into TikTok, but is still missing from Instagram. Indeed, on the Meta social network it is still impossible to download Reels of other users, something that its rival has long allowed. For once, Instagram is trying to catch up now.
Instagram Reels will let you download
Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri gave the big news himself. With the next update it will be possible to download the Reels that are mentioned in our news feed. To do this, just press the button To share, whose menu will show the option soon download. As shown in an image shared by Adam Mosseri, which you can see above, the resulting video will be watermarked with the Instagram logo and creator’s name.
