When it comes to advertising your products, videos or anything else online, Facebook is one of the most convenient ways to advertise online. Given its audience of over two billion people, Facebook is the perfect place to start your campaign, but you need to make sure you’re targeting your audience correctly. To do this, you can use Facebook’s advertising tool to target people who like pages from other sources that may be similar to yours. Targeting fans of other pages on Facebook is a quick and easy way to advance an ad campaign and use Facebook’s advertising tools to your advantage. Whether you’re a musician looking to promote your music or an entertainer looking to host parties, using similar pages can really give you a leg up on the competition. Here’s how to do it.
Facebook Interests
When you start a Facebook ad campaign, you fill out a web form that decides who you want your ad to reach. Facebook can then target your ad to this audience to deliver the best bang for your buck and get your ad money. One of the sections you fill out is Interests. In the Interests section, you can find out if you can target your Facebook ads to fans of other pages. If you type the page name in the Suggestions box at the bottom of the Relevance section, the page should appear. If so, you can target it. If the page is not displayed, you cannot target it.
No one knows exactly why some pages can be targeted and others not, but the truth remains. If the page appears, you can simply target it using Facebook Ads Manager. If you want to create an ad for your audience, it’s important to familiarize yourself with Ad Manager.
Facebook Ads Manager
Facebook Ads Manager is where you go to adjust any ad on the social network.
- Here, go to Facebook Ads Manager.
- Choose a goal from the middle box and give your campaign a name.
- Create an Ad Set.
- Choose an Audience and then add details.
- Select Detailed Targeting.
- Type the name of the target page in the Interests section in the middle of the page.
- If the page appears, select Add.
- Select Save after completing any other selections you may need.
After selecting the page and audience, you will need to go back to the main ad page and select Placement, Budget and Plan, then create the ad itself. You can choose an ad format, choose the media type, and then add text to your insert in this section. Remember your audience and write for them, not yourself. If you can, find an ad that the page you’re targeting is running and use it as inspiration. Do not copy or make your ad too similar or you will compete directly with them. You don’t want to be listed separately and come face-to-face with them because they may have a higher advertising budget than you.
After you create your ad, be sure to preview it. The preview tool provided by Facebook will show you how your ad will look and may not show how your ad will appear on all devices. Instead, it gives a rough outline of how your ad will appear to your viewers, and most ads are standardized regardless of what device they’re viewed on.
When you’re satisfied with your Facebook ad, select a Facebook pixel and are ready to run, select Place Order. If you have not previously posted a Facebook ad that will be saved to your account, you will need to add your payment details. Once everything is configured and paid for, the ad goes live. It may not be instant, but it should appear live in Facebook Ads Manager pretty quickly.
Creating a Facebook ad takes time and a lot of configuration, but getting them right is important. Not only does the ad have a much higher chance of success, you start paying as soon as the ad runs!
