How to Send a Message to Someone Who Blocked You on Instagram

Can you message someone who has blocked you on Instagram? Can you say they blocked you? How can I find out why they blocked me? All these questions and more will be answered on this page.

Social media has enriched our lives immensely, but it has also brought with it a whole new set of worries and insecurities. Social media anxiety is a thing now and there is a lot of work done by psychologists to understand how we are affected by events happening on social networks.

Call it passive-aggressive, call it a sign of our age, but blocking social media is something that affects us all in one way or another. From being obsessed with being angry to why, we all react differently to frustration. The lucky few move forward without looking back, while the rest of us take a while to deal with it. I wrote this article for this second group.

Can you message someone who has blocked you on Instagram?

Depending on the circumstances, you may want to explain why someone blocked you or why something is the way it is. Being able to communicate with someone would be an easy way to do both. Unfortunately you are unlucky. When someone blocks you on Instagram, there is no way to contact them over the network.

You can ask a mutual friend to contact them. You can try to contact them via a different network or another method, but you can no longer do that on Instagram.

Can you say they blocked you?

Have they definitely blocked you? It’s hard to say as Instagram doesn’t say anything. If their profile suddenly disappears and you can’t find it, you can no longer see their Stories or posts, then you’ve probably been blocked. Look for them and they won’t be there.

An easy way to find out is to use someone else’s phone. Borrow a friend’s account and call the person. If they’re there and can be contacted for them, but you’re not, you’ve likely been blocked.

Is it easy to block someone on Instagram?

Yes, it’s easy to block someone on Instagram. Seems a little too easy. Every social network should have the necessary tools to block toxic users, but these tools are also very often used to ghost or simply leave people we no longer want to talk to.

  1. Open Instagram and select the contact profile.
  2. Select the three-dot menu icon to access the menu.
  3. Select Block and confirm.

That’s all you have to do to block someone. Again, it’s great that we have these tools for annoying or malicious users, but it’s very easy to block normal people as well.

How can I find out why they blocked me?

This is a big question and you will either be obsessed for a while or ignore it completely. Unless you’re the ignoring type, the reason why you’ve been blocked is irrelevant. Sometimes it will be obvious. You said something offensive one night or on a date. You said something stupid in an insta chat or sent a picture that you really shouldn’t have. The reasons are many and we’ve all been there.

The easiest way to deal with frustration is to shrug it off and move on. This friendship was not to be and there is more. This is both the good and the bad side of social media. Friendships can be thrown away and taken and left on a whim. This is part of the problem and part of the solution. On the one hand, disposable friends can be blocked for the dumbest reasons.

If you get blocked, you can find new friends just as easily as the friend who blocked you. Of course, it’s not always that easy, and you have a ton of rejection concerns to deal with first.

More often, users will try to rally against the person who blocked them, label the person as childish or immature, or view the blocking as something to brag about. The best way to deal with being blocked is to shrug and move on. It may not be personal, it may not be your fault. It’s just like that.

Acceptance is easier than succeeding, but if you want to stay on social media and stay sane for the most part, it’s the only way to survive. Otherwise, you run the risk of becoming obsessed with it and wrapping yourself in a tight spring, ready to explode into something or someone. Life is too short for that, and there are too many cool people on Instagram for that.
