There are over 305 million active Twitter users. Lots of tweets! Unlike other social networks, where news feeds are often compiled or do not show real recent events, Twitter updates in real time. If you have hundreds of active friends on Twitter, that means you’ll potentially have hundreds of Twitter updates to scroll through every hour. In other words, tweets are often lost in the shuffle.
There is an easy way to get a particular tweet noticed and it won’t cost you a penny in advertising. Here’s how to run your Twitter business like a pro.
Step one: write your tweet
“What’s going on?” at the top of your Twitter home screen, just below the Twitter logo. You will see a field that says This is where you create a Twitter update. Start writing what you have to say.
Second step: publish your tweet
Hit the tweet button and your update will be published for the whole world to see.
Step three: Pin the tweet to your profile page
Click on the three little dots at the bottom right below your new message and an options window will appear including “pin this to your profile page”. Choose this.
Step four: confirm the changes
At this point, you will see a popup asking if you are sure you want to save this tweet on your profile. Twitter only allows pinning one tweet at a time, so selecting “Pin” here will remove any previous tweets you may have saved.
Fifth step: check your work
Scroll through your profile page and you should see your newly pinned tweet in bold at the top of your screen. This tweet will stay at the top of your profile until you delete or change it. You can delete the tweet by pressing the three little dots under your tweet again and selecting the “Delete Tweet” option from the drop-down menu.
Pinning a tweet is like displaying a billboard on your profile page. The pinned message remains bold and highlighted, advertising whatever you think you are being called to say. Pinning a tweet is an easy way to tell people what you’re doing, link them to something for sale, or even advertise your services.
