Twitter is a great social media platform, but it’s not for everyone. Maybe you took a chance and decided it wasn’t your thing.
So how do you delete a Twitter account you don’t use?
Unfortunately, once you decide you want to delete a Twitter account, it cannot be deleted. You have to deactivate your account first, then you can log back in for 30 days to recover your account and all its information. After that, Twitter will delete all your data from the website and your account will be like it never existed. If you want to download this data before deleting your account, here is how to do it:
How to download your data from twitter?
- choose More From the menu on the left of the screen.
- To choose Settings and Privacy.
- click Your account.
- You will see in the list of options, Download an archive of your data. Choose this.
- It will ask you for your password.
- After you enter your password, it will give you two options. To choose Request archive.
After pressing the claim button, your screen will not have any obvious changes except what the button will say now. Archive requested.

It may take a day or two for your request to be accepted, but you will receive an email or notification when it’s ready to download.
Then all you have to do is go back to that place on the site or app, or click on the link provided in the email. Download Archive.
With that in mind, here is how you can permanently delete your Twitter account.
How to Permanently Delete Your Twitter Account
If you want to permanently delete your Twitter account, you can do so on a desktop computer, iPhone or Android. We’ll show you how to delete your account on all three.

Deleting Twitter on Android is basically the same as doing it on an iPhone. The icons will be slightly different, but other than that the steps are the same.
By following these steps, you can quickly and easily get rid of your Twitter account on any device.
final thoughts
Twitter can be a great social media platform to connect with people and share things with your followers, but it’s not for everyone. So if you’ve completely decided that this Twitter account should be shut down and never seen again, just give it thirty days and it will be gone forever.
If you change your mind, you can always log back into your account before that time expires, and of course you can always open a new Twitter account.
