Triller is a really exciting app and a real competitor for TikTok. You can record your own trills – that’s what these videos are called – add your own voice or one of the many free samples in the app.
The biggest downside to Triller is that these videos can only be up to 30 seconds long. Many users think the limit is 16 seconds, but it’s actually 30 (at the time of writing: December 2019).

How to Use Trillers
Before we get into the details of creating and editing your own trills, here are some basic requirements. First of all, you need to download the Triller application to your phone. You can get it from the Google Play Store if you have an Android, or from the App Store if you have an iPhone.
The app is free to download and install, simply tap the links posted above. Then, follow the onscreen instructions for setup – it’s all pretty simple. Other than that, you won’t need much else.
Make sure your phone is updated to the latest system update and has a stable Wi-Fi connection to use the app. If you can’t get Wi-Fi, your phone data will work too.
Now that we’ve got that out of the way, you can start doing your trills right away.
How to Make Trills Longer Than 16 Seconds?
Triller videos are always limited for a certain time. In the past the limit was 12 seconds, but now it’s up to 30 seconds. The default recording time is 16 seconds and many people think you can’t change it.
Actually you can (without using any third party apps or complicated techniques). Here’s a guide to making trills longer than 16 seconds:
- Launch the Triller app on your phone (Android or iPhone).
- Tap the plus icon from the home screen. This is how a new music video project is created.
- Select the music track you want to play in your video. On Triller you can choose some popular, trending songs or download the music from your device or Spotify.
- When you choose the music, you also have to choose the part of the song you want to play on your trill. You can always press the play button on the music selection screen to listen to the song and see if it’s available.
- Make sure to tap the number 16 near the bottom of your screen and select anything between 17 and 30 seconds and confirm with Done. When you’re done trimming the audio, tap on Trim in the top right corner of your screen.
- Next, let the Triller app record video. When you’re ready, tap the camera icon at the bottom of your screen.
- The app will do a countdown and start recording your video (up to 30 seconds).
- You can then edit the video and when you’re happy with the results, tap Finish in the top right corner of your screen.
- Finally, you can share your trailer or set it private. On the final screen, you can also select the video category and tag your location. Tap Send & Save when you’re done.
- After uploading a little, you will be able to share your video on various social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. You can also download your video. When you’re done, tap Done in the upper-right corner of the screen.
So you make a longer trill. Unfortunately, the limit is 30 seconds, but it should be enough to grab your potential audience’s attention.
What else can I do?
That’s not all you can do with your trills. While shooting your trills, you can edit the video and add tons of cool effects to make it more interesting. After shooting a short movie, tap the Edit button and add the effects you want.
You can also tap Shuffle if you’re recording multiple trailers. In this way, the app will combine these clips and create an amazing music video. If you want to edit the clips yourself and decide what to include, simply tap Edit Video. After adding the effects, simply tap Done.
