A lot of people don’t know about it because it’s hidden. This is a good thing because if you can’t access secret chats on your phone, it means no one else can. Most smartphone users use face and fingerprint scans as well as passwords to lock and unlock their phones.

But if you want to be extra safe, you can use Viber secret chats. This article will show you how.

What is Viber Secret Chat?

You can use Viber on Mac, Windows, Android and iOS devices. You can download the application from the official Viber website, all links for mobile and desktop devices are provided here. When you download and install the latest version of Viber, you can access secret chats.

Viber is known for its excellent privacy standards, ensuring that no one can intercept your messages and violate your privacy. Unfortunately, secret chats only work on mobile devices. This feature is still not available on tablets or desktop computers.

Viber secret chats cannot be viewed from the main messaging menu. You have to enter a chat with the user you want and set a secret PIN. Only then will you be able to hide your messages and no one will be able to see them.

How to Hide Chats on Viber

2. Go to the Chat Selection screen.
3. Tap the chat you want to hide.
4. Select Chat Information from the drop-down menu. On iPhone, you will see this option when you click on the contact’s name. On Android, this option will appear when you select the More Options icon. You can swipe left on both devices to open Chat Information.
5. Tap on Hide this chat.
6. Set up a secret 4-digit PIN (iPhone users can even use Touch ID, you’ll find out soon).

1. Launch the Viber app on your phone.
2. Go to the Chat Selection screen.
3. Find the chat you want to hide and swipe left on it and select Hide on iPhone. On Android, you have to tap and hold the conversation in question and then select the Hide option.
4. You will now need to set a secret four-digit PIN.

How to Show Viber Chat

1. Run Viber on your phone.
2. Go to the chat you want to hide. Swipe left on Android or iPhone.
3. Tap on Show this chat.
4. Confirm with your secret PIN or iPhone touch ID.

How to Open a Hidden Chat

1. Launch Viber on Android or iPhone.
2. Go to the Chats screen.
3. In the Search tab, type the secret four-digit PIN.
4. A list with all hidden chats will appear. Tap the one you want to view.

How Do You Know If You’ve Received a Secret Message on Viber?

Viber has done something clever with notifications for secret chats. When you receive a secret message, you will only be notified with a blank notification that you have a new message.

When you are ready to open the message, launch Viber and go to the Chats screen. Enter your secret PIN in the Search tab. Look for a chat with a notification icon on it. Tap on it and you can read your secret message.

How to Change Hidden Viber PIN

1. Open Viber on your phone.
2. Tap the More icon to open the menu.
3. Select Settings and then Privacy.
4. Select Secret Chats, then Change PIN.
5. Type your previous PIN.
6. After that, you will get the prompt that you can change.

How to Reset Hidden Viber PIN

1. Launch Viber on your phone.
2. Tap More, then tap Settings.
3. Now select Privacy and then Secret Chats.
4. Select Reset PIN and confirm.

Now your PIN has been reset, but you should know that doing so will delete all your previously private chats. Once you reset the PIN, you cannot restore them again.

iPhone Touch ID for Viber

Touch ID can only be used by iPhone users. They can enable or disable it from the More menu. Before that, they need to set a special PIN.

1. Open Viber on your iPhone.
2. Tap the More icon and select Settings.
3. Select Privacy and then Secret Chats.
4. You can disable or enable it by tapping the slide switch next to Access with Touch ID.

Desktop and Tablet Users

As mentioned above, desktop and tablet users cannot use the Viber secret chat feature. They cannot hide, view or show chats. All secret messages you send or receive on your phone will be invisible on tablets and desktops.
