As a video sharing content platform, TikTok is the number one short video talent social media hub. Quick drawing tutorials are very popular on the platform. However, knowing how to draw a dog up to 60 seconds is not enough. Getting it right to fit within the 60 second video limit is absolutely critical. Here is an example of how to do dog drawing tutorial on TikTok.
Two Approaches
You will have to adapt and compromise to fit a dog drawing training into a specified one-minute time frame. The most obvious way would be to learn how to draw a simple outline of a dog. However, this will give you enough time to draw the simplest outlines using some quick drawing techniques.
The other approach would be to take the time to draw, draw an ideal dog while recording all the time yourself, and finally edit your video to be no longer than 60 seconds.
Both of these ways are perfectly legitimate but require very different approaches to dog drawing. Choosing the best path for you will largely depend on your drawing style and goals. For example, if you really want to teach people on TikTok how to draw a dog in 60 seconds or just show your skills, you wouldn’t edit the video at all. Otherwise, you may want to consider the second approach.
Doing In Real Time
If you chose the real-time approach, you’ll have to go through some trial and error. Note that you can speed up the video here as well, but if you overdo it, it will be obvious. The best way to go is to use the stopwatch to take time for yourself while you practice. If you already have a quick method of drawing, still take time for yourself because it may take some practice to meet the one-minute deadline and you may need to remove certain parts of the sketch to speed things up.
Try to increase your drawing speed to 50 seconds. This will leave you a lot more room for error and make the 60-second mark much more bearable. Of course, you may want to do this in less than 60 seconds. In this case, simply subtract 10 seconds from your desired speed drawing target. If you are going to draw in MS Paint, practice on paper and vice versa. All these will help you achieve your goal perfectly.

Now, while the previous method was all about practicing your speed, taking the time to draw a detailed, realistic drawing is all about preparation and editing. First of all, you’ll probably be sitting at your drawing desk for at least half an hour. The actual image of your own drawing needs to be uninterrupted, while being easily edited on the way to the bathroom and taking a break. Pour anything on paper and you’ll have to start over.
Second, it’s really all about editing. Speeding up the video is a big part of this, but you’ll also need to cut out the parts you’re not drawing (for example, taking a break). Regarding the actual application, drawing a dog for TikTok is no different from drawing a dog just for the sake of drawing. The more you practice, the better the final result. New shoots are pretty much a nightmare here because you’ll probably have to start from scratch each time.
Dog Drawing in 60 Seconds
Although there are many ways to quickly draw a cute dog, here is an example that is simple and completely doable in the given time frame. First, draw two medium-sized adjacent circles. These will be the dog’s cheeks. In both circles, draw several randomly placed small circles. Draw a small circle between the two circles and slightly up and fill it. This will be the dog’s nose.
Below where two adjacent circles meet, draw a semicircular line, and from where the two circles meet, draw a line perpendicular to the semicircle. This will represent the dog’s tongue. On top of each of the two main adjacent circles, draw a potato-shaped shape so that the bottom appears to be behind each main circle. These are the eyes of the dog, so you have to draw a filled circle inside both to represent the irises.
Next, draw a semi-oval shaped line starting from the point just to the left of the left eye and ending just to the right of the dog’s right eye. Now, it’s time to draw the dog’s ears. To do this, add two semi-ellipsoid shapes to either side of the dog’s head.

There isn’t much advice to give here, really. Drawing takes some skill, a steady hand, and a lot of practice.
