What do you do next time you’re browsing Instagram Reels for inspiration for your own video content and come across an audio file that you love and want to reuse?
There are several different ways to save or download Instagram Reels audio clips for later reuse. Throughout this article, we’ll explore five foolproof tricks to download your favorite audio clips or save them for later.
Can you download audio from Instagram Reels?
Short answer? Yes.
The long answer is that you need to use external tools to do this – Instagram itself does not support the ability to download audio directly from an Instagram Reel.
However, the process in itself is still easy enough. You can download the audio from Instagram and save it to your device or save it to your Instagram account for later reuse.
How to download Instagram Real sound
If you want to download an audio clip from an Instagram Reel and save it to your device, there are four ways to do it.
1. Use a third-party Reels audio downloader
There are a number of third party websites that can help you download reels audio files from video link for free. A few of these include:
- ReelSave.Application
- ReelsDownloader.io
- Insta.SaveTube.Me
- Reel Saving
Whichever tool you choose, here are the steps you need to follow.
one. Select the Real sound you want to download. This could be a catchy song that you think might fit in one of your videos, or a trending audio clip you’d like to use for your future content.
Here’s one we picked out using the Owen Wilson “wow” compilation from Visme.
2. Tap To share icon on the right. looks like one paper plane.
3. Click copy link option at the bottom of the pop-up screen.
Or if you’re doing this on the desktop, open Reel and copy the URL into the browser box. Also, if you have an iPhone and a Mac/MacBook, you can connect the two so that the URL you copied from your phone can be easily pasted into your computer.
4. Paste the link into the Instagram Reel audio download tool of your choice. We will use Reel Saver but they all work pretty much the same.
5. Click download button to extract the audio file from Reel. With Reel Saver, you will have the chance to play the audio file before clicking it. 1 Download button.
You will now have downloaded the audio clip to your device.
It is downloaded as an M4A file with Real Saver. Other tools provide the download in MP3 format. Make sure you choose the right tool for your needs.
2. Use video to MP3 converter
There are several video-to-MP3 converter tools you can use for this method as well:

- Online Converter
There are also iPhone and Android apps that you can download to your phone and complete the whole process.
Use the following steps to download Instagram Reels audio with this method.
one. Select the Instagram Reel you want to download. We’ll use this example from our own Instagram, which uses a trending audio clip:
2. Download Reel to your device. To do this, you will follow the same steps as last time; touch the paper plane To share icon on the right. But this time you will touch add to story.
3. Save the story to your phone. Tap the three-dot icon, then save option to download the video to your device.
4. Convert the video to an MP3 audio file. You can send the video file to your computer or download an application to your phone to do the conversion.
We AirDropped the recorded video to our device to use the FreeConvert.com conversion tool. Select or drag your file onto it. Select Files section.
Next, click convert to convert the file (or files if you are converting multiple files at once) to an MP3 audio file.
You will then be able to click download next to your newly converted file.
You will now have the MP3 file that you can add to a video in your preferred video editing tool.
3. Change the file extension
This method can be done on an Android smartphone device or on a computer. Basically, you will change the file extension at the end of the file from a video extension to an audio extension. Doing so changes the format of the file, turning it into an audio file.
Follow the steps below to complete this process from your Android device.
one. Download Reel to your smartphone using the same steps we covered in the last method – tap to add it to your story and save from there.
2. Go to your smartphone’s file. These will be in the Files by Google app on your Android device.
3. Long touch Tap the icon labeled Three dots on the video to select it and access additional settings More.
4. Faucet rename in the drop-down menu. Then remove the “MP4” extension and replace it with “MP3”.
Then you’ll have an audio file on your phone that you can use to add to your Instagram Reels and other videos.
To do this on your desktop, follow the steps below.
one. Download the video using a tool on your computer or send it from your phone to your computer.
2. Open your Finder to access the newly downloaded video. Right click on the file and click rename from the drop-down menu.
3. Remove the “MP4” or “MOV” file extension and change it to “MP3”. The file will be converted to an audio file.
While these screenshots are taken on a MacBook, the process is the same on a PC. Open your file manager, find Instagram Reel and rename it to change the file extension.
4. Use the VlogNow video editor
You can also use VlogNow or VN Video Editor on your phone. With this tool, you can immediately add audio to your own video from an Instagram Reel. Download the app for iPhone or Android to get started, then follow the steps below.
one. Download Instagram Reel by following the method we showed you earlier.
2. Save the video you want to stream to your own Reels. Next, open the VN Video Editor app and + icon in the lower right corner. Tap New project Press to open your video from your camera roll.
3. After you open your video in the app, Tap to add music line below the timeline editor.
4. Faucet Music under Sting go to the popup that appears, then my music tab.
5. Tap Extract from Video Press the button, then select the Instagram Reel you downloaded from the videos in your camera roll. Add to an album, open the album and tap on it. To use next to the newly imported audio file.
You can then save your new video and have it ready for upload to Instagram Reels!
How to save Instagram Reels audio for later use?
All of the above methods involve downloading or extracting audio to a device for later adding to a video. However, you can also complete all these tasks directly from within the Instagram app.
Follow these steps to manage all your video creations directly from within Instagram.
one. Find the Instagram Reel sound you want to reuse in your own video. For this example, we’ll use this audio clip from Casper:
2. Tap the sound name at the bottom of the screen, then save icon in the upper-right corner—looks like a flag/bookmark. When you have successfully recorded the audio, it will change from a black outline and white insight to completely black.
Note that you can also tap . use sound if your video is ready or ready to record. Saving keeps it safe for later use so you can easily come back to it.
3. Go to your Instagram Saved folder. You can access this by tapping your profile, hamburger menu (three parallel lines), then was recorded. You will have a folder for “All Posts” and a separate folder for “Audio”.
4. Open the “Audio” folder, then tap the audio file to open it. You can tap here use sound when you are ready to create your video.
