Everyone is on social media these days. Everyone and their mothers, literally! In fact, asking for a phone number is slowly becoming a strange thing – Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.
But what if you’re tired of Instagram? What if you no longer want to waste hours scrolling through your feed? Is there a way to get rid of one of the biggest social media platforms in the world permanently? Of course there is. Here’s how to do it.
Permanently Deleting Your Account
You’ve finally decided – you want to say goodbye to Instagram permanently. No problem, this is totally doable.
Oh, you can go ahead and close that mobile app. Yes, you can access it from a browser, but no one really does that, right? You can find everything on the phone, plus the experience is much better. It seems you can’t find everything in the phone/tablet app.
Go ahead, go to account settings – there is no ‘delete your account’ option.
This means you will need to access your Instagram via a browser (whether from your computer, phone or tablet).
After logging into your account on the web, you can look through the Instagram website until you find the permanent delete option. Yet they didn’t make it easy. Therefore, your best bet would be to follow this link – it will immediately redirect you to the Delete Your Account page.
First, choose a reason to delete your account. You can choose something randomly, but at the same time be honest. It’s up to you. Next, enter your Instagram password in the field below.
Press the red button when you are absolutely sure that you want to continue. permanently delete my account Press the button and confirm. This will delete your Instagram account along with all the likes, comments, photos, friends and hashtags you have made.
If you decide to create a new Instagram profile, you will be able to use the same email address, but the username cannot be recovered – you will have to think of another.
Temporarily Disable Your Account
If you are not 100% sure that you will never want to return to Instagram, you can start by temporarily deactivating your account. This will make it 100% recoverable. All your photos, comments and likes will be hidden unless you decide to come back to Instagram though. This is a nice alternative to permanent deletion as it has the same consequences for your followers.
The account deactivation option is much easier to find than the one used for permanent deletion. First, log into your Instagram profile in a browser. Next, go to your profile by selecting the icon that represents your Instagram profile picture (top right corner of the screen).
This will take you to your own profile. Towards the top of the profile screen, Edit Profile function. Choose. At the bottom of the Edit Profile screen, Temporarily disable my account function. Choose.
Now, you will choose the reason for deactivating the account. Again, you may or may not choose a random cause. Next, you need to enter your Instagram password, select the blue Temporarily Disable Account Press the button and confirm.
Once deactivated, all you have to do to reactivate your account is to log in to your account to activate it again. It’s that simple!
Blocking Contacts
If you’re deactivating or deleting your Instagram account because of one person or a group of people, you really don’t have to. You can easily block people and prevent them from contacting you. If you are tired of seeing their content, you can unfollow them.
To block someone on Instagram, first go to their profile. While on the profile screen, go to the top right corner. You will see an icon with three dots. Tap. A menu will open. choose Block Select and confirm. Even if you approve, don’t worry because you can unblock the profile at any time.
To unblock someone you’ve blocked, go to their profile and click a unblock option, precisely usually Follow/Stop following button.
But what does this mean? What happens when someone is blocked? First of all, the person in question will not be informed. However, they cannot access your profile as if you deleted your account. Therefore, blocking is a nice way to hide your account from some people.
Note that the blocked person can find out. There is a way to check if a user has deactivated/deleted their profile or just blocked you. If you try to tag a person who has blocked you, you can. If you try to tag a deleted/deactivated profile, no suggestions will appear. Of course, even if they tag you, you won’t be notified.
A Great Alternative
If you want to reduce the time you spend on the Instagram application, but do not want to cut some of your followers, simply delete your Instagram application. You will be able to continue using the browser to check your Instagram or something like once a day.
Now you can do everything the app can do, even the instant messaging feature.
Deleting Your Instagram Account
The option to delete your Instagram account is securely hidden, but Google is your best friend here. Or you can use the link mentioned above. However, you do not need to permanently delete your account. You can disable it, block unwanted users, and sanction your Instagram time by deleting the app.
Have you permanently deleted your account? Or have you decided to disable it instead? Tell us why. Check out the comments below this entry and feel free to join the discussion.
