Have you already jumped on the bandwagon and joined millions of creators on Triller? If not, it’s still not too late to take your chance to become the next dubbing sensation.
With that in mind, Triller is a great vlogging platform with all the tools you need to make your videos engaging. The following sections provide a step-by-step guide to setting up your account. It also has great tips on how to edit your account and profile.
Creating a Triller Account
This article assumes that you have already downloaded and installed the Triller app from Play or App Store. Therefore, there will be no information about it. Get your fingers ready to touch and let’s get started.
Stage 1
The really cool thing about Triller is that the app opens the video feed right away. This is no different when compared to TikTok, for example, but gives you an incentive to keep creating accounts.
There are several pop-ups to deal with and the app informs you that it is collecting your data to provide you with a better service. Of course, you have the option to limit this in the Settings menu.
step 2
Tap the person icon in the lower right corner of the screen to start creating your account. This will take you to the “Sign up/sign in” button. Tap on it to start the process.
As soon as you press the button, another drop-down menu appears with different login options. Apart from social media, you can login with email or phone number.
Note: There is no right or wrong way about this. For the purposes of this article, we will use the email options. But if you want to get more friend suggestions, feel free to use the social media options.
Stage 3
Type your email, choose a username and choose a password for the account. Apart from that, you can continue to make your account as presentable as possible.
Note: If you choose to sign up for social media, typing in your email address is not required action. Also, there’s no authentication to distract you from the app.
How to Set Up Your Triller Account
Once you set up the account, it’s easy to add more credentials and make the profile as fun or silly as possible. Press the gear icon in the upper right corner of your profile window to start editing.
The first thing you’ll want to do is make some friends. You can do this by tapping the “Invite” button to send invitations to people in your contacts. Alternatively, you can tap the person + icon in the upper-right corner of the screen and browse the app to find your friends.
The Settings menu is divided into Account, Privacy, Video Creation and Legal. Since the law is something you cannot change, this section will not deal with that. But it wouldn’t hurt to check other options.
Bill
The first tab lets you change the password, and Triller’s autoplay and autoscroll feature is turned on by default. This can get a little annoying, so feel free to turn these features off.
Privacy
As for privacy, your account is public which allows data collection by default. It might be better to set it the other way around – account private and data collection turned off. You can always change the privacy status before uploading your videos.
Note: This is also where you can sync your phone or Facebook contacts. Interestingly, the app doesn’t seem to pull email contacts.
Video resolution
The resolution is set to the highest 1920×1080, so there is no need to change anything. The really cool thing is that you can also turn on the selfie mirror from the same menu.
Fly: If you scroll all the way to the bottom of the Settings menu, you can clear the app cache, sign out, or contact Triller by tapping on Feedback.
Editing Your Profile
Apart from the settings, you can exit the menu and tap the “Edit Profile” option under your profile photo. This is where you can choose your name, put in a new profile picture or link the Triller account to Instagram.
The menu also lets you set a cover photo and write an engaging bio to keep it all interesting. You should know that a biography can only be 140 characters long. Further down the “Edit Profile” menu, you have the options to invite friends, change the password or clear excess data.
Overall, everything looks and feels intuitive, simple to navigate, and setting it all up shouldn’t take more than five minutes.
Is Triller a TikTok Killer?
Catchy wordplay aside, it would be wrong to assume that Triller is a major threat to TikTok or any other social media app. But if it really improves the features you already know and like, is it a completely different question?
What are your impressions of the trills? Do you think this app is a temporary fashion or is it permanent? Give us your honest opinion in the comments section below.
