How to Check Your Devices Signed In to Instagram

Have you noticed something strange going on with your Instagram account lately? If you notice unusual activity, such as liking posts you’ve never seen before, your account may be compromised.

I wish there was a way to check devices logged into Instagram. Fortunately, there is. You can look at the locations and types of devices that are logged into your Instagram account. Then you can block access to these devices or even change your Instagram password.

Read on for detailed steps on how to take these precautions and stay safe on Instagram.

Measures

If you are careful about your sensitive information and social media accounts, you will be safe most of the time. Do not let your device remember the password when logging into your Instagram account on a Wi-Fi network other than yourself.

Also, don’t forget to log out of your Instagram account if you’re using it elsewhere, like at your friend’s house. All people have sensitive information on their Instagram accounts, so being careful should be a priority.

Sometimes hackers can crack your password and abuse your Instagram account even when you are very careful. Therefore, if you notice anything strange, you should immediately check the logged in devices. Keep reading because we’ll explain this in the next paragraph.

How to Check Logged In Devices

You can control the devices logged into your Instagram account using your computer or mobile device. Let’s start with the PC.

on your computer

If you’re a PC user, you know that many options like chat are limited to mobile devices. However, you can control the logged in devices from your computer. Follow the steps:

  1. Log into your Instagram account via a browser.
  2. Click the Profile tab in the upper right corner of the screen.
  3. Next, click on Settings.
  4. Now select Login Activity.
  5. A list of logged in devices will appear next to their location. Click the down arrow button and click Sign Out if you don’t recognize the device.

You can remove these devices individually or choose to change your IG password. We’ll come to that shortly.

On your mobile phone

Most people use Instagram apps on their iOS or Android devices. The process is slightly different from computers. To check logged devices on your mobile phone or tablet, follow these steps:

  2. Select the profile icon.
  3. Select the Hamburger icon in the upper right corner of your screen.
  4. Choose Settings.

  8. You can also check the Outputs just below.

Unfortunately, on mobile you will only see check-in and check-out times and dates. No device name or location. You should check for devices logged into Instagram on your computer rather than mobile devices. That way, you’ll get more information about whether a fraudster is using your account.

How to Change Your Instagram Password

You should change your Instagram password as soon as you notice anything suspicious. This is easy to do, but make sure you have your old password because you will need it to confirm the password change.

on your computer

The way to change the password is slightly different from accessing Login Activity, but you can also change your password from this window. In the list of signed-in devices, tap the “This Wasn’t Me” button.

Instagram will ask you to change your password so that all other devices can be disconnected except the computer you are currently using. Just enter your old password, new password and confirm the new password.

Finally, confirm the prompt that says your password will be changed. If you think your IG has been compromised, this is the safest option.

On your phone

On your phone, you will need to change your password directly. Follow the steps:

  1. Open the Instagram app on your device.
  2. Go to the profile menu.
  3. Tap on the hamburger menu and Choose Settings.
  4. Select Security and then tap Password at the top of the screen.
  5. Enter your current password, new password and confirm the new password. Confirm the changes.

This much. All other devices will be signed out and only your phone will remain on Instagram. If you forgot the password you use for your Instagram account, there is also an option to reset your password via Facebook. If you want to do this, tap that option in the password change menu.

Keep Your Instagram Information Safe

Others who know your Instagram password can access a lot of sensitive information about you, including your information, passwords and more. From time to time, you should check the devices you log in using the methods you have just learned.

It’s also not a bad idea to reset your password every six months. This keeps your account safe and saves you from any potential hacking threats. Did someone hack your Instagram? Let us know in the comments section below.
