Snapchat is the perfect app to chat with friends, watch and reply to their Stories, and enjoy photos and videos. But Snapchat’s concept is such that messages will be deleted after they expire. If you don’t intervene right away, you’re missing out. Snapchat messages have either a single view policy or a limited time frame.
Some people don’t know that there is a way to make sure a message on Snapchat doesn’t go anywhere. You can trick your Snapchat to save all your chats.
Save Messages
Making sure a message isn’t lost on Snapchat is much easier than you might think. It’s as simple as swiping right on the Snapchat camera screen. Then select the chat icon to open Snapchat chat.
Find the person you want to message and send one to them. After sending, simply tap the chat for it to save. The area around it will turn gray and Snapchat will show that it has been saved. And yes, you can do this for as many messages as you want.
Tap again to turn a message into a regular Snapchat message. It will remain in the chat until you tap the saved message again.
Chat 24 Hours
While saving messages in a chat is very useful, it can be a bit annoying. To make the chat stay there permanently, you have to tap on every message you send. It can be a bit annoying, but if you don’t touch it, it will cease to exist as soon as all group members read it.
That’s why Snapchat introduced the 24-hour message option. With this new option, you won’t have to tap on every message and you will still be able to return to a message within the conversation. Naturally, you will have to turn on this option yourself.
It’s not a global feature either, so you’ll need to enable this option for each chat you want to use.
Go to chats on Snapchat and select a conversation. Click the icon next to their name. On the next screen, tap on the three-dot icon and then Delete Chats. Here you will have two options: After Viewing and 24 Hours After Watching. Select the latter to have each message in this chat stay for 24 hours after everyone has seen it.
Deleting a Message
Whether you’ve saved a message or set the chat to remove it after viewing or 24 hours after viewing, you’re still in control of your chats. This means you can delete a message you sent at any time, even before the person you sent it sees it.
To do this, open the conversation in question, navigate to the message you want to delete, tap and hold on it and To delete. According to Snapchat this won’t always work, but it seems to work well enough. While this will delete a chat, all parties involved will see that you removed something. But this is typical for most modern instant chat apps.
Making a Chat Accommodation
Snapchat is quite popular due to certain instant messaging rules. However, the platform offered the option to save a message permanently or leave it for 24 hours after being seen. This has changed things and made communication much easier in many ways.
