When you use a dating app, you may come across many profiles that catch your attention, and some of these apps may notify other users that you’ve viewed their profile. But if you’re using Grindr, that won’t be the case.
Grindr hasn’t implemented this feature yet, and it’s currently impossible to control your profile viewers even with third-party apps. Of course, there is a possibility that the app will add this option in a future update.
But there are also those who oppose it. “Do not do that!” screaming at the top of their lungs. Many people prefer to browse profiles without telling people what they are doing. What if they are interested?
Grindr has a ‘tap’ option that helps other users show their interest without having to exchange any words. Many hardcore Grindr users think that’s the way to go instead of appearing on other people’s viewed list, and Grindr seems to agree.

What is Grindr ‘Tap’ Feature?
When playing on Grindr and encountering an interesting profile, simply tap an icon to break the ice. This app is useful as you don’t need to find the perfect line. You can show interest immediately, if the interest is mutual, you will receive a response.
When you go to any profile you are interested in, you will see 3 different tap icons – ‘Hello’, ‘Fire’ and ‘Devil’. Depending on what you’re touching, you’ll show a different type of attention.
- By tapping the ‘Hello’ button, you notify the user that you want to join a chat. This doesn’t necessarily mean it will end with a conversation, but it does show that you might be more interested in a partner than in an adventure.
- Tapping the ‘Fire’ button primarily means you are sexually interested in someone. Users post this to show they’re interested in a date or date and can go with either.
- The ‘evil’ icon means you’re ready for a physical adventure right away. You’re not in long-term relationships and romance, you’re just in a hookup.
The ‘Tap’ feature indicates a particular interest in someone. Conversely, a simple profile view can happen by accident or out of curiosity, and users may misunderstand them.
Similar Apps With ‘Profile Viewing’
Some of Grindr’s competitors, such as Scruff, Hornet, and Planet Romeo, allow you to search for all users who have viewed your profile recently. If this feature is important to you, you may want to consider upgrading to one of them.
Seeing Visitors on Planet Romeo
Planet Romeo includes a ‘Visitors’ menu where you can check the history of your profile visits. You can also clear the history of your previous visits. In essence, Planet Romeo tries to appeal to those who want to appear in their profile view and those who don’t.
To access these visits you must go to the ‘Footprint’ menu located at the bottom of the app (the shoe icon). Here you can see a list of your visitors and the profiles you have visited. Tapping ‘Clear list’ under these two tabs will remove all visible profiles.
Seeing Viewers on Scruff
Scruff has a ‘Woofs’ option similar to Grindr faucets. So, ‘woofing’ a profile means showing an interest. The app combines these ‘Woofs’ and ‘Views’ options so you can see them together or separately. You can also see the profiles you have installed or viewed.
To see the trackers, tap a ‘Woofs+Followers’ icon (animal footprint) in the upper right corner of the screen and choose one of the four available options.
The app has some great filtering options. With the Premium option, you can sort all profiles by Date, Distance or Last Online from this menu.
Using Hornet’s ‘Who Controls You’ Option
Hornet is another LGBTQ dating app that can show the latest users who have shown interest in your profile.
When you enter the ‘Search for Men’ option, you will see two different profile lists at the bottom of the menu.
One lists all the new profiles in your area that might be of interest to you. The other lists all users who have visited your profile. By clicking ‘View All’ you will see the history of your profile viewers.
Solution
Some users prefer Grindr for the lack of this feature.
For the same reason, some apps that previously supported this feature kept removing or replacing it to include some control. The good news is that you have options in this arena.
