Facebook is working on a complete overhaul of the interface for its groups. The goal is to create real communities. for him, Meta was inspired by a formula that works: Discord’s formula.
Facebook has indeed released the first images of this interface and The resemblance to Discord is obvious. The process follows the outlines, for example, with different discussion channels and sound rooms.
Facebook takes inspiration from Discord for its groups
At the moment, these new groups are far from definitive, but we are already starting to guess how they might work. On the left of the screen we find a pane that appears in it. different groups integrated by the user…just like on Discord.
By choosing one, we have access to several written and audio rooms, not all via Messenger, but even going to channels where the admin can post content (as in a classic timeline) or even a calendar to jot down important events. Of course, there will be the possibility of creating private chats for certain members of the community, such as VIPs or those interested in a common topic. In short, if you know Discord, you will see how it will look.
The aim is to create real communities with members who can become even closer thanks to this new system. However, you will have to see how the thing will be greeted by usersespecially in groups with thousands of members. In any case, this isn’t the first time Facebook has inspired others for its network. We especially remember the appearance of stories, a feature stolen from Snapchat or the addition of short videos to the news feed, as in Tik Tok.
Currently, the new group design is still in the testing phase. Therefore, it should not come right away for the general public.
