Meta’s Commerce Manager is a tool that allows businesses to manage and track catalog-based sales and promotions on Meta’s platforms, Instagram and Facebook.

If you use payout on Meta platforms (more on eligibility below), Commerce Manager provides all the functionality you need to sell and get paid directly on Facebook and Instagram:

  • View payments, financial reports and tax forms

  • Respond to customer messages and resolve disputes
  • Analyze your delivery and customer service metrics

Who is eligible for Facebook Commerce Manager?

Anyone can create a catalog in Commerce Manager, but only businesses that sell physical products can take the next step of setting up a store on Facebook or Instagram. And only US-based businesses can enable local, on-platform payment on Facebook or Instagram.

If you sell digital products or services, you can still use Commerce Manager to create catalogs for social ads. You can have multiple catalogs for advertising purposes in Commerce Manager, but you can only link one catalog to your store.

How to get started with Facebook Commerce Manager?

Before you begin, access Commerce Manager at https://business.facebook.com/commerce.

Step 1: Create your first catalog

Go to Commerce Manager and select the business account you want to use from the left menu.


Scroll down catalogs and click +Add catalog. Select the type of offer you want to add to your catalog. Note that only E-commerce products can be added to a store. Next, click Next.

Choose whether to upload the catalog information yourself or import it from a partner such as Shopify or WooCommerce. Name your catalog and click To createback then View Catalog.

Step 2: Add products to your catalog

From your catalog, click Add Item. Then choose how you want to import your items. If you only have a few things, you can add them manually. Otherwise, it’s a good idea to import your assets from a spreadsheet, a partner platform, or a Meta Pixel.

After making your selection, Next.

Step 3: Set up your store (for physical products only)

If you sell physical products, you can use your catalog to set up a store. Skip this step if you’re selling something else (like services or digital goods).

In the left menu, click Mallsback then Go To Storesback then Next. You will be able to choose between two options:

Option 1: US-based businesses

If you live in the United States, you can choose: Pay with Facebook or Instagram. Next, click To start again and skip to Step 4 in these instructions for details on how to set up your trading account.

Option 2: Businesses located elsewhere

If you live elsewhere, you must choose Payment on another website or Payment by messaging. Next, click Next.

Select the account you want to sell to, and then Next. Select the Facebook Business Account to connect to your store, and then Next Again. Select the countries you ship to, then Next Once again.

Click the box to accept the shopping review, then Complete setup.

Once your store is reviewed, it will be added to your Facebook Page as a tab.

Step 4: Set up your trading account (US-based businesses only)

after clicking To start under Pay on Facebook or Instagramreview the requirements for creating a trading account and Next.

Note: Before you go any further, some items you’ll want to collect include your tax numbers (state and federal), your official business address and email, your business representative information and SSN, and your merchant category.

Under Business InformationClick To create Click to enter your business name, then Next. Link the account to a Facebook Page, then Next Again. Finally, link the account to a Business Manager account and Finish Installation.

Return Create Your Trading Account page and click To start under Products and Settings. Select your catalog, enter your shipping options and click. Next.

Enter your return policy and customer service email and click save.

Select your business category and click Next Again. Select the states where you do business and enter the relevant state tax registration numbers, then Next.

Enter your tax and business representative information. This is required by US law to receive sales payments. click Next.

  • Dynamic ads match products in your catalog with the people most likely to want to buy them (through retargeting).
  • Collection ads show four items from your catalog.

Gather information about your customers and stores

Facebook Commerce Manager offers a wealth of analytics data for your business. click insights On the left tab of Commerce Manager, you’ll see an overview page with key metrics like product page clicks. You can choose to see analytics specific to your products on Facebook or Instagram.

You can also go down to more detailed metrics by clicking on the different reports in the left menu.

Maintaining a trading account on meta platforms requires you to meet trading eligibility requirements and seller policies. This Account Health tab helps you monitor how well you meet these requirements, as well as provide information about how well you serve your customers.
