Twitter CEO Elon Musk has announced a few changes to his social network. First, the company will soon clarify its old censorship policy. With an upcoming update, Users will be notified if their account is shadow banned. This means that the profile is difficult to find or the posts are not seen by other Twitter users or even their followers.

Some accounts of the social media company in the past ” trending blacklist », « search in blacklist », « magnification and other options to block their tweets from reaching a wider audience. According to Elon Musk, the update will also provide instructions for appealing the decision.

Elon Musk wants more transparency in Twitter apps

The announcement came during the release of a new version of internal Twitter documentation that sheds light on the practice of limiting access to certain potentially harmful content. Some ex-employees of Twitter, who were fired right after the billionaire’s social network was hacked, they voluntarily censored certain publications of various political figures.

Under this policy, Twitter intentionally blocked searches for certain individual users or made a specific tweet harder to find. The company has also reportedly blocked certain posts from its “trends” page and removed them from hashtag searches.

Twitter isn’t the only one who wants to be more transparent about this app. With its latest update, Instagram rolled out a similar feature, letting you know if you’re currently blocked from accessing recommendations. For now, it can only show if you’re blocked from viewing suggestions in Discover, Feed, and Reels, but Instagram is working on expanding the tool so you can see if you’re also blocked from viewing on “recommended accounts.”

Therefore, it is not yet clear when Elon Musk will roll out the new update. Meanwhile, the billionaire is expected to delete 1.5 billion Twitter accounts. release certain usernames that were previously unavailable to active Internet users.
