If you took to Twitter this morning, you may have witnessed a strange phenomenon. For the past few days, users have been discovering the “For You” tab, which displays tweets from members they don’t follow but related to their interests. But for a short time, this tab was literally filled with tweets from Elon Musk.
Thus, even those who do not follow the billionaire on the social network were able to read many conversations and responses from him to other users. A very nasty surprise for those who do not particularly appreciate the person who bought the platform, who complain about the situation too quickly. After a while, Elon Musk admitted that a problem was on the way.
Why was all of Twitter taken over by Elon Musk?
As our colleagues at The Verge noted, the phenomenon came just days after Elon Musk complained on Twitter that his posts were not sufficiently visible to other users. The billionaire did not hesitate to fire an employee for the same reason. Three days later, it’s on (almost) everyone’s news feed. It’s hard to believe in a coincidence.
As of this writing, it looks like things are finally back to normal. Elon Musk asked users for his own account: “wait while we make some adjustments to the algorithm”, implying that the issue has been resolved online. If even Elon Musk realizes we talk too much about him…
