Dog eats in the world of picture-based social media platforms.
just take a look Snapchat and Instagram– the two heavyweights in this episode. Almost every update is followed by a controversy, often surrounding the fact that one platform is copying ideas from another. And while these updates are controversial in the social media business, that hasn’t stopped them from being extremely popular with users of these platforms.
One of the most popular features of both Instagram and Snapchat are face filters. Face filters are live special effects that these apps apply to your face. The most popular filter is the “dog filter”, which gives you a nose, dog ears and long tongue! Other filters are for improving your appearance, turning you into an alien, or helping you celebrate the latest holiday.
Face filters are a lot of fun to use and share with your friends, but there is an as yet unexplored market for face filters that users are starting to discover, which is using them on your pets. That’s right, some people who have been using Snapchat’s filter for a while have found that it works on pets, too. The results of applying the technology to your loyal furry friends turned out to be pretty hilarious. Check out this cheeky photo!
Now, the question we’re starting to answer in this article is: Can you do the same on Instagram? The image above is from Snapchat, which you can tell by looking at the signature gray text bar running over the photo.
As Instagram’s arsenal of photo enhancement tools grows and evolves, more and more people are wondering what their latest set of filters can do. Most importantly – will it work on animals?
We’ve researched the topic to find the answers for you, so keep reading and see for yourself!
How Do These New Filters Work?
When it comes to Instagram, the newest way to change your face for online entertainment comes in: selfie filters. These cheeky additions were made so that anyone using them could have a little laugh with them and possibly make themselves a little prettier in the process.
However, the tools you can work with are quite limited. The number of filters you can use is less than ten, so there is a lot you can do with them. (We think their innovation tends to expire pretty quickly. This may be why people are starting to use Snapchat products on their pets rather than themselves.)
The main idea behind this new line of filters is that they follow you and stick to your head even when you’re on the go! Moreover, if you make a certain facial expression – for example, open your mouth and the filter will then move your ears arrogantly! (If you have the rabbit filter turned on. Some filters do not have moving animal ears.) Check out some examples in the following paragraph.
Some Examples of Instagram’s Selfie Filters
While some people implied that many of the selfie filter ideas are fake solutions stolen from Snapchat, many devout Instagram users would argue for their uniqueness and creativity that went into designing them. Here are a few examples of what smart people on Instagram are finding:
golden crown
Replicating the iconic Caesar wreath-crown popular during the Holy Roman Empire, this filter is the most basic of them all. The principle is simple. If you open it, the technology behind it will find your head and you will glue it to it!
rabbit
Probably the most interesting Instagram selfie filter of the bunch, the Bunny filter puts a pair of bunny ears on your head. These two furry appendages rise in surprise if you open your mouth and move left or right depending on the direction of your movement.
Koala
Similar to the rabbit filter, this is how koala face enlargement software works. You have a pair of koala ears on the top of your head and then a koala nose where your human nose should be. (The ears also rise in surprise if you open your mouth! The nose is just, sort of, there the whole time…)
heart eyes
This is another popular Instagram filter that turns any of your photos into a romantic one. This is an animation that sends hearts and arrows all over the photo, some of which stick to your face. The Heart Eyes filter is a cute way to color pictures of yourself or your pets.
So, Can You Use These On Pets?
Well, although it kind of doesn’t have the same effect as Snapchat’s filter. The thing is, Instagram’s selfie filter is designed for humans as its main working principle. It revolves around following your head and watching the moments you open your mouth. That doesn’t mean it can’t work on pets, just that you’ll be less successful with pets than yourself.
If you want a higher level of magnification, we recommend getting the version of Snapchat, because there AND you can change the shape of your pet’s head and make any other adjustments you want!
How to Use Instagram’s Face Filters on a Pet
Using Instagram’s face filters with your pet works the same as you do. Go to the Story camera on Instagram, select the face filter you want to use on your pet, and then point the camera at your pet. If the app is having trouble finding your pet’s face, you can tap your pet’s face in the viewfinder to show you where to look.
To increase the chances of the Instagram filters working on your pet, you need to make sure your pet is sitting as still as possible. Depending on your pet’s personality, this may be easier said than done. It’s also best for your pet to look directly at the camera rather than to the side. From there, it’s all about trial and error and patience.
All in all, Instagram’s new filters may not be exactly perfect yet, but they’re definitely getting there. Using them on pets may not produce the desired results, so to speak, we still recommend trying them! We hope you found this article useful and you can never stop taking the perfect selfie!
