When you use an app like WhatsApp almost every day, it’s always surprising to discover some new functionality you just didn’t know existed. We hope you will enjoy this article today as you explore some great WhatsApp text tricks and a few WhatsApp functions you may not have heard of.
Bold, Open Top, Monospace and Italic
If you highlight a text, you can tap “More”; You get bold, strikethrough, monospace, and italic options.
Some devices do not have an “Other” option. In this case, you can use different symbols to indicate that you want a word written in bold, strikethrough, monospace, and italics.
For bold, you should use the asterisk before and after the text. For italics, you must use underscores before and after the text you want to italicize. The tilde is used before and after text to create the strikethrough effect. To write words in monospace, you must add three serious accents.

Reply to a Single Message Point
Let’s say you are chatting with someone on WhatsApp and that person is typing a series of things at the same time. You may want to address a single message point directly with your answer. You can do this by tapping the message and “Reply”.
Reply to a specific part of a message
This will bring up the highlighted part of the message when you start typing your reply. The other person will then know which part of the message you replied to. Type your message and it will appear below a small box with the full text of your reply.
Change Your Font Size
It is possible to replace the text of your messages with a larger or smaller font. This only works for your device. For example, if you set your WhatsApp text font to very large, it will only appear too large on your screen. It will not pass to your buyer.
Open WhatsApp and tap the settings icon in the top right. Scroll down the menu and tap on “Settings”. Tap on the “Chats” function in the settings menu. You’ll see other options on one that says “Font Size” followed by what font size you’re using. Tap on the “Font Size” heading and change your font size to whatever you want.
Add Text to Images
Adding text to images
Go to WhatsApp and press the Paperclip icon at the bottom of the screen. Then choose to add an image from your gallery. Go to your image gallery and select the image you want to use. After selecting your picture, a small set of icons will appear at the top of the WhatsApp screen. Press the icon that looks like a capital letter “T”. Now you can add your text and set its color. Add your caption to the WhatsApp message and then press the green button to send the message.
Stop Preview Text
When someone sends you a WhatsApp message, a notification appears on your phone’s Home screen. It will tell you who sent the message and show you part of the text.
If someone isn’t accidentally sending you messages that you wouldn’t want others to see, that’s great. For example, if you leave your phone at your grandma’s house and your spouse sends you an obscene text, you probably don’t want the preview to be on your phone’s Home screen.
It’s easy enough to stop these previews. Start WhatsApp but don’t enter a chat, stay on the start screen where you can see your contacts. Tap the three vertical dots icon in the upper right corner of the screen. Find the “Settings” function and tap it. Next, tap on the “Notifications” option, which will bring up your notification settings. From here you can turn off previews.
Some phones have a toggle switch that says “Preview Notifications”. Others may have an option like “Use High Priority Notifications”. Tap the button or toggle switch to disable previews.
Find Old Messages
It stores your WhatsApp messages and many more. As long as you use WhatsApp, there’s a good chance the company will save them. They will only delete your messages if you don’t open WhatsApp for 30 days. In this case, they will start deleting your old messages.
There seems to be some confusion as to whether WhatsApp stores your images and texts on its servers, but since you can get very old photos and texts, it’s clear that they saved them somewhere.
Regardless, you can search through your old messages with the search bar at the top of the WhatsApp screen. It’s especially useful if you have some relevant information, such as a website link, and you want to retrieve it.
Bookmarks
You can highlight a single point/piece of text in a WhatsApp conversation by pressing it. You can then tap the star icon at the top of the screen. This way you will bookmark that particular piece of text so that you can find it more easily in the future.
