Happn is handy if you live in the city. It uses your cell phone’s GPS to check your location and then highlights past or ‘cross paths’ people. You then swipe and you can chat if you both like each other. Not very useful if you live in the country though.

Hinge uses your Facebook network and extends it to expand your reach. The usual swipe happens and you can talk to your loved one. It’s all a bit close to home and your Facebook relationship status is also shared so scammers don’t need to resort to it.

OkCupid mixes old-school internet dating with app games. You can filter questions using profile settings and more. You can also search for ‘someone’ and just a link. The same feature is also available, get a profile card, swipe to like or dislike and chat or not.

How About We is a somewhat refined dating app, if at all possible. It has a lightweight approach designed for a more mature dating look. There aren’t as many people using this app as others, but quality over quantity wins the day here too.

Plenty of Fish has power in numbers that can work against it as well as against it. There’s a lot of straw here which makes wheat a bit difficult to find. When you do that though, the app makes it easy to talk and more if you want.

7. grinder

Grindr has been specially designed for those with alternative persuasion and has had great success. It works the same as Tinder and should do as first here. It’s still a bit buggy, but other than that it’s simple to use and very effective.
