The green screen is the chef’s knife of the TikTok world: indispensable. With this tool, you can transform your background instantly – no fancy video studio required.

- On the green screen you have two options:
- To use a photo as your background, select the green icon with the photo and down arrow on it.
- Select the green icon with the video and up arrow to use the video as your background.

- Repeat the process to add additional clips with new backgrounds – apply the effect and save. TikTok will stitch them together.

The trick is, record clips that start where the other left off.
- Record the first part of your video by ending it with that “transition moment” – for example, the snapshot or palm covering the camera.
- Remember where you ended your video: you’ll want to start your next clip here.
- Make any change you want… a new place or a new outfit?
- Record another clip, starting where you left off: squatting hands or palms covering the lens.
- Press the checkmark to switch to the edit screen.
- Here you can trim your clips for further alignment if needed.
Pro tip: You may also want to use the timer and a tripod or ring light for hands-free recording.
5. How to add subtitles
Adding captions is not only great for capturing your audience who may be watching with the sound muted, but also makes your content accessible to the deaf.
- On the edit screen, tap . text at the bottom of the screen.
- Customize the font, alignment, color and style and drag it to where you want it to appear on the screen.
- Tap the text and an option will appear. set duration.
- Faucet set duration and then choose when and for how long you want it to appear.
Pro tip: There are some third-party options for automatically generating captions, but we love Instagram Threads… still, obviously, you have to use it on Instagram first and then re-upload it to TikTok.

7. How Duet with TikTok video
Make beautiful music with TikTok’s duet feature.
- On TikTok to duel, tap . Share button right. (Note that this will only appear if the creator allows sharing.)
- Faucet Duet.
- This will take you to the edit screen. Here you can record video and audio of yourself as well as the original.
- shoot me check mark to preview and then Next to go to the text screen (Don’t forget to cite the creator of the original video!)
8. How to react to a TikTok video
It’s just a variation of a duet. The only difference is that the layout is more of a “picture-in-picture” style.

10. How to use multiple video clips for one audio clip
If you want to use the magic of editing to create a multi-scene video with a single audio clip, you can! It takes a while to stop and get started, but once you get used to it, you’ll be blasting our lip-sync video masterpieces like nobody’s business.

- Tap . timer icon To the right to see a visual representation of the sound.
- Drag the time markers on the audio timeline to mark where you want the song to stop recording for your first clip.

- Now press the timer icon again. You will notice that the sliders now start recording from where the last clip ended. Set where you want the next song to end, hit start the countdownand save your next clip.
