Asus launched the ZenBook Pro UX580 in India today, and the device is definitely worth your attention. I wonder why? ZenBook Pro features a highly innovative trackpad that doubles as a second display.

The 5.5-inch Display Surface on ZenBook Pro UX580 is by no means your ordinary trackpad, it’s a fully functional display that can be fully customized to add shortcuts, app-specific toggles, or pretty much anything else depending on your needs. Other than that, since the laptop comes with a ‘Pro’ label, it’s pretty clear that Asus has packed the top-of-the-line features in a pretty compact and sturdy chassis, which will definitely give its rivals their money’s worth. Design and Display

Once we’re done with the specs, let’s talk about the ZenBook Pro’s design and display. Smart design, the new ZenBook Pro not much different from the old ZenBook Pros and has a smooth metal finish along with the Asus logo on the lid. The palm rest has a pretty high-quality brushed aluminum finish, but it doesn’t make its way to the base of the device. That’s why a base large fingerprint magnetbut I wouldn’t hold it against Asus as you’ll rarely look under your laptop.

The thin bezel display is absolutely dazzling. Asus claims 4K UHD panel the device has a Delta E of less than 2 in the high-end variant and covers it 100 percent of Adobe RGB color space with Pantone certification. While I couldn’t confirm these values without our own testing, in my short time with the device I found it quite lively and surprisingly quite bright. Thanks to the thin bezels, the ZenBook Pro 83% screen-to-body ratio and a screen 178 degree viewing angleso the media consumption on the device will be absolutely fantastic.

screen pad

It wouldn’t be fair for us to pay special attention to the ZenBook Pro, as it’s like any other laptop without a unique trackpad. The ScreenPad, which Asus has decided upon, is the USP of the new ZenBook Pro and is a 5.5 inch FHD display It tracks pretty well and feels like using a smartphone in landscape mode.

ZenBook Pro

By default, ScreenPad is used as a second screen. can be used to launch applications or for quick access to program functions, depending on what program you’re currently running. Asus has teamed up with Microsoft to offer some unique functionality in its Office suite that will allow users to quickly access useful shortcuts as soon as they open any Office application. Apart from that, ScreenPad also used for calculator, calendar or music controlsthis is a very useful addition.

Also, ScreenPad can be used as an extension larger 15.6 inch screen and as soon as you enable this mode you will be able to drag any app onto the ScreenPad and use it with touch controls. Perfect for those boring workdays when you want to watch some videos while pretending to be super busy. The really cool thing about ScreenPad is that Asus will allow developers to create apps or extend the functionality of their existing apps, which creates endless possibilities.

Equipment

ZenBook Pro has some great hardware geared towards professionals looking for a powerful system to take on the go. Buyers will be able to configure up to one of their ZenBook Pros. core i9 processor with Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti graphics card. It will be supplied with the laptop. 16GB DDR4 memory with 1TB PCIe SSD, it will certainly suffice for the needs of the average user. But given that all this hardware is packed into a pretty slim case, I was a little concerned about the device’s performance. Unlike the recently launched MacBook Pro, I was confident the ZenBook Pro would do justice to the Core i9 packed inside and wouldn’t have any thermal throttling issues.

ZenBook Pro

Asus has a tool to address just that. double fan, triple pipe cooling system on the laptop that will keep the temperatures under control. We’ll definitely put these claims to the test when we get our hands on the review unit. Other than that, ZenBook Pro has a nice standard keyboard with tenkeyless layout, so there is no numeric keypad. This leaves a lot of room for primary keys that are fairly well spaced and have a good travel distance. In terms of I/O ports, Asus ZenBook Pro has pretty much everything you need on the go. two USB Type-C Thunderbolt 3 ports I think this is a great addition.

Asus ZenBook Pro: Genius or Cheating?

Without a screenpad, the new Asus ZenBook Pro is a terrific machine with great hardware specs and a tried and tested design. However, with Screenpad, the notebook is in a league of its own and aims to offer solutions, albeit a little smaller, to many of our problems that can be solved with a second screen. Asus has done a great job showing how the second screen can be used to boost your productivity and even released an SDK for developers to come up with new apps. But is Screenpad actually as useful as Asus claims, or is it just another gimmick? Unfortunately, you’ll have to wait to find out the full review. What do you think of the new Asus ZenBook Pro?
