Tom Brady is the ultimate American dream for any athlete. Its story almost feels like the script for a movie you’d watch on Netflix. From being nothing to being the greatest, his journey was full of bumps along the way, but that didn’t stop the quarterback from tackling them all. Now seven Super Bowls and 3 regular season MVPs will later go down as the best player to ever do so.
We all know how he failed in high school, he had to struggle to get started, and it was the same at the University of Michigan. When he was selected in the 199 draft by the New England Patriots, he was supposed to be a backup, nothing more. Hopes for further starting were worsened when former quarterback Drew Bledsoe was signed to a major long-term contract, one of the biggest for any QB at the time.

325 quarterbacks on the combine, 12 drafted but last man standing Tom Brady:
However, fate had other plans for him as Drew Bledsoe fell with an injury and Tom took over the starter job, never giving it back. The playmaker’s father spoke KTVU Fox He talked about his son’s mentality and his performance in the NFL Combine.
As we all know, the Combine is the most important stage for all draft rookies to prove themselves and show that they can walk without speaking. With scouts and even coaches from 32 NFL teams, it’s the opportunity of a lifetime for these athletes from all walks of life. How a player performs on the combine often determines the draft stock.
Brady had one of the worst combine performances in history. Her iconic outfit picture makes her look like the average skinny person you might run into on the street. Nothing about him screams NFL quarterback.
His father also agreed that Brady’s performance was so bad, especially on the 40-yard run, that he couldn’t believe it. “When he ran in the merge, it was something like 325 quarterbacks running 40 yards, when he ran 40 yards, he was the first quarterback to use a sundial. Brady Sr. wasn’t lying, the TB12 sprinted for 40 yards in 5.28 seconds.
The average 40-yard dash timing for an NFL quarterback is 4.9 seconds. Tom has clearly never been an athlete, and you could see that when he ran. This has caused many teams to overlook it and not take it seriously. Sure, he was good at target practice, but in Combine it’s not that important.
Still, he turned out to be the best quarterback in the draft. With 325 quarterbacks appearing in the combo, of which only twelve were drafted that year, Tom was the seventh QB, and it didn’t take long for all 6 players selected before that. All of them were outside of the NFL for 3-4 years.
It’s 2022 and Tom is still standing, not just standing still, performing at the highest level. He is proof that no matter how talented you are or whatever the hype around you, at the end of the day only hard work will take you to the next level and keep you there. It’s the greatest ever and there’s a reason why it’s rightly called that.
