It was an extremely joyous moment when 22-year-old Desmond Ridder received the call from the Atlanta Falcons announcing he would be a third-round pick in the 2022 NFL draft. It was the moment when Ridder and his family’s struggles to get an NFL contract finally came to an end.
Reliving the day he received the call, Ridder described how he hung up on his cell phone in hopes of a phone call. He even poked his mother, Sarah Ridder, for attention when Atlanta Falcons GM Terry Fontenot called him.

“It was a moment I’ve been waiting for all my life” Desmond Ridder jumped for joy As he revealed the details to the Atlanta Falcons website following his trading move. “It’s been a dream I’ve had since I was little.
