The Cleveland Browns have made it clear who they want as quarterback for the upcoming 2022 NFL season. Despite Baker Mayfield on their roster, they brought in Deshaun Watson from the Houston Texans despite his criminal record.
Considering the potential shown by Mayfield in the 2020 season, this move was quite surprising. The 27-year-old was also not given any prior notice that he was dismissed for being accused.
Baker Mayfield is about to leave the Cleveland Browns this season.
That said, Baker Mayfield hasn’t spoken out against the franchise since. Deshaun Watson’s Ya felt it was time to make his voice heard while speaking on the Neva Know Podcast. He felt his performances were good enough for him to claim as the starting quarterback in the franchise this season as well.
“I feel disrespected,” Mayfield said. “One hundred percent because I was told one thing and they did something else entirely. This is what I’m in the middle of right now. I enjoyed it because in four years I’ve had four different head coaches, a lot of different coordinators.“
Baker Mayfield also acknowledged that the 2021 season wasn’t going according to plan, but felt he had two great years in 2019 and 2020 that were missed by the Browns.
Mayfield continued, “Are you talking about heights? They always come back. They always come back. But I had a great time in my rookie year. I didn’t start at the beginning. I came and had fun in the back half of the year. 2019 sucked. 2020 was great, it’s up to the playoffs. 2021 was miserable.”
