Saquon Barkley has been in poor form since joining the Giants in 2018, and with numerous injuries, people are questioning his worth in the team. Every position in the NFL is important and can be activated by an opponent when a team has a weak link.
Before the preseason kicks off, the Giants have completely overhauled their coaching staff, and head coach Brian Dabolll said earlier this week that the Giants plan to use all players in the preseason.
Barkley hasn’t played much in the preseason in his 5 years in the NFL. On Thursday night, the 25-year-old RB made five touchdowns to the teams opening the pre-season drive against the Patriots. The one-time Pro Bowler had four carries and caught an 8-yard pass.
Saquon Barkley is often criticized as the No. 2 pick overall in 2018 and has so far done nothing fundamental to prove the critics wrong.

“I know Saquon quite a bit and I think he’ll be fine.” Barry Sanders expresses faith in Saquon Barkley’s potential
Although the 25-year-old is suffering from injuries, all-time Football Hall of Fame Barry Sanders still believes he can recover. Sanders said in a speech: interview Giants fully expects RB to rally here in 2022.
“Every year is a big year in the NFL. He’s obviously coming back from a big injury.” said Sanders. “I know Saquon quite a bit and I think he’ll be fine.
“Being as young as him . . . players always come back unharmed. We saw that with Adrian Peterson a few years ago. I have all my faith and trust in Saquon.”
Sanders is positive about Barkley’s potential. The Giants and coach Brian Dabolll are also confident that the 25-year-old RB will play this season and has not been disappointed so far. Barkley doesn’t look healthy.
The Giants have received a fifth-year option on Barkley’s contract, suggesting this could be a ‘life-or-break’ season for the youngster.
