In the latest episode of Hard Knocks, the Detroit Lions invited a special guest to their training camp in the middle of all their preseason action. Motown-based comedian Josh Adams made his special appearance at the Lions’ team activity meeting and had fun at the expense of head coach Dan Campbell and other stars on the Lions’ roster.
Coach Campbell wanted to lift everyone’s spirits before he faced the Indianapolis Colts last Saturday. Judging by their close 27-26 win over the Colts, it seems that bringing Josh Adams to a few jokes has been quite beneficial for the team.

Comedian Josh Adams thinks Dan Campbell would be better suited to coach the special team
Josh Admas’ stand-up performance was featured on HBO’s Hard Knock, and his roast of Dan Campbell was applauded by cast and fans alike. “I didn’t know Coach was that big, damn it,” Adams said of Campbell. “We need you on dedicated teams, f- all coaching. We need you to break the wedge, my family. He walked towards me – ‘how are you?’ When did Hulk Hogan start coaching?
Adams also made fun of Campbell by citing his ups and downs during training camp and impersonating the head coach who made the players laugh out loud. “When the half have ups and downs, the last six don’t count” Adams joke. “I saw them. They weren’t ups and downs. You were doing yoga downstairs. It was a downward dog. Take your a- down like everyone else, let that crate hit the ground, Coach.”
The 46-year-old coach was so impressed with Adams that he didn’t mind being the ass of all the jokes that evening. “It’s one of those things. It breaks the monotony,” Campbell said. “We’ve had a little time and sometimes things can get pretty serious, and a little laugh with the guy next to you I think goes a long way and men appreciate that… It just lightens the mood.”
Detriot Lions have been in a pretty bad slump for the past ten years. Despite many attempts, they did not pass the first threshold of the playoffs. Their last playoff appearance was in 2016 with Matthew Stafford as QB and they lost in the wild card round. And this year, it looks like the Lions got tired of being the worst team in the league and decided to change their fate. The training camp sessions showed everyone working hard and coach Dan Campbell was extra motivated and his interviews with the teams were testament to that. Let’s hope the Lions have a comeback year this season!
