LeBron James is arguably one of the greatest basketball players of all time, but he is without a doubt the most heavily criticized. At 37, he’s still doing wonders despite the Los Angeles Lakers having a nightmarish season. Someone like Michael Jordan’s manager David Falk really needs to tell you about the aura and authority that a superstar like LeBron James has. The 2021-22 NBA season is one to forget for the basketball giants in Los Angeles. Boasting a star-studded roster with one of the All-Time Greats himself LeBron James and two future Hall of Famers at Anthony Davis, and newly traded Russell Westbrook, the Lakers looked poised to dominate.
Gloom and misery swept the streets of Los Angeles as they fell from the playoffs with a horrendous 33-49 record. Lebron James played a big part in building this team and got exactly what he wanted, was involved in staffing decisions and chose Westbrook over DeMar DeRozan. The entire Russell Westbrook trade is still a giant mess. The Lakers had a pretty solid bench that was traded to Westbrook. Managing Director Rob Pelinka appeases Lebron James by buying and trading Russell Westbrook Kyle Kuzma and KCP, which exacerbates its problems.

‘LeBron James is not helping himself’
LeBron James often gets the spark of the Los Angeles Lakers’ troubles. He is chosen not by his performance on the field, but by the decisions he makes off the field. Russell Westbrook is said to be the enforcer of signing with the team. James’ stellar career and illustrious achievements earned him league-wide respect. This interest gave him the opportunity to be a determining factor in front office hiring decisions.
It means a lot to the franchise and it’s the only factor that gives it such strength. While unproven, it can be argued that the strength of a four-time NBA champion is equivalent to the strength of a general manager. Some people believe that LeBron James is just for the Lakers and almost running the franchise. One of them is David Falk:
LeBron is a very special player. There’s no one in the NBA who doesn’t think that LeBron manages the team, oversees player overtime, oversees trades, and is often involved in negotiations for certain players.”
I’m a big LeBron fan, I think you have the right, but there is a word in the law that a lawyer is an idiot for his client.”
Falk hinted that the Lakers need a professional general manager to help the team get back on their winning path. He stated that the managers will not take him as a player and the players will not take him as general manager in the same way, so a line has to be drawn.
I don’t think managers will do as well as players in the NBA, and I don’t think players should qualify to be general managers.” said Falk. “So I think a line needs to be drawn.”
If Falk wants to bring Michael Jordan closer and win more Championships in the GOAT debate, he asks James to focus on his game and separate basketball and politics. Can the Lakers turn things around with new players next season, can Lebron use his years of experience to move the Lakers ship to ‘Champions Bay’, keep an eye on King James next season!
