If you have iOS 11.3 or later installed on your iPhone, you can easily check battery health by taking a short dive into the Battery section of the Settings app. However, it only transfers the maximum available charge capacity in percent. If you want to find the number of charge cycles your iPhone battery has gone through, you won’t find it there.
Apple puts the lifespan of an iPhone battery around 500 charge cycles; The more you go through these cycles, the less the battery will be charged. So what can you do to check the number of charge cycles in your iPhone’s battery? If you have a Mac or PC on hand, use the three apps below to reveal it quickly. Lets start.
1. iMazing (Mac and PC)
iMazing supports both macOS and Windows. Creating backups, accessing photos, transferring music, etc. It is an iPhone management tool that you can use to perform a number of tasks such as Although you have to pay to use most of the features in iMazing, you can check the battery statistics on your iPhone, including the number of charge cycles, for free.
Download and install iMazing on your Mac or PC. Then open the app and connect your iPhone. Track your iOS device by selecting it from the left-hand navigation pane of iMazing. Next, click on the Battery icon located at the bottom right of the program window to reveal the Battery output.
Note: iTunes must be downloaded and installed on the PC. Otherwise, iMazing may not detect your iPhone.
Under the Technical Data section, you can find the number of charge cycles for your iPhone listed next to Battery Charge Cycles.
The battery output will also contain a number of other battery-related information such as current charge and temperature. You can also find the overall health of the battery at the top of the screen. This figure uses the maximum effective charge, so it will differ from the Maximum Capacity reading shown in the iPhone’s Settings app.
2. Coconut Battery (Mac Only)
CoconutBattery is a nifty (and free) program that lets you quickly figure out your iPhone’s battery charge cycles. However, you can only use it on Mac.
Start by downloading CoconutBattery. Then you can start the program right away –– no installation required. Connect your iPhone, switch to the iOS Device tab and see the charge cycle count listed next to Cycle Count.

3. iBackupBot (Mac and PC)
iBackupBot is an iPhone backup utility for PC and Mac. Just like iMazing, it also displays the number of charge cycles for your iPhone. You have to pay to unlock features in iBackupBot, but the program offers a 7-day trial for first-time users (no billing information required). This should be more than enough for the task at hand.
Download and install iBackupBot on your Mac or PC. Open it and then select your iPhone from the navigation pane on the left side of the window. Follow by clicking More Info. In the window that appears, check CycleCount under the Battery section to get the iPhone’s battery cycle count reading.
Note: If iBackupBot cannot detect your iPhone on PC, launch iTunes next to it. This should prompt iBackupBot to detect your iPhone immediately.
Tip: Check Charge Cycles with iPhone Only
If you don’t have a Mac or PC on hand, you can use your iPhone itself to get the battery charge cycle count. However, it requires some effort.
Start by going to Settings > Privacy > Analytics & Improvements > Analytics Data. Scroll down and tap the last entry starting with ‘daily collected’.
On the screen that follows, select all the text in it––double-tap and drag the right selection handle to the bottom of the screen and hold until it highlights everything. Tap Copy to add the text to the iPhone’s clipboard.
Create a new note in Notes and paste the text into it. Next, tap the More icon in the upper-right corner of the note, then tap Find in Note. Track by typing ‘BatteryCycleCount’.
This should prompt the Notes application to highlight the relevant word in the text. Just below it, you should see the number of charge cycles listed between the integer labels.
Battery Cycles
Although you can control the number of charge cycles on your iPhone, you should put more stock in the percentage Maximum Capacity reading displayed in Settings > Battery > Battery Health. With the right charging practices, an iPhone that has gone through multiple charge cycles can still have adequate battery health. You may also want to enable the Optimized Battery Charging function on your iPhone to slow down the negative impact of repeated charging cycles.
