Why You Shouldn’t Buy Galaxy S7 Right Now

The Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are two of the best smartphones on the market today. However, you shouldn’t be buying one right now. With large curved screens and water resistance, they are attractive options, but we recommend waiting a little longer. Read on to find out why.

Apart from the recalled Galaxy Note 7, Samsung had a strong year in 2016. But this year, things look even better. And although the upcoming Galaxy S8 release has been delayed, it will be here soon. Along with countless other good options in 2017.

A little over a year after the Galaxy S7 was released, there are plenty of reasons why we’re telling you not to buy one right now. And it’s not just because the Galaxy S8 is coming. In fact, there are several reasons, which we will explain below. If you need a phone right now, go ahead, but you’ll be glad you waited.

Now is a bad time to buy any of the great smartphones on the market. This goes for the iPhone, Google Pixel and even the famous Galaxy S7. Now that we enter 2017, a new wave of smartphones is on the horizon. We’re not saying wait and buy the Galaxy S8, instead just wait to see what options pop up. Like the LG G6 deals.

Here’s why you shouldn’t buy the Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 Edge right now. Although you may decide to get one at the end of it, which is fine. Lets start.

Galaxy S8 Release Date (and Galaxy S8 Plus)

There are several reasons why we should avoid buying the Galaxy S7 right now, but none more obvious than the newly arrived Galaxy S8. Simply put, it will be Samsung’s best smartphone to date. Coming out of a recall as the company prepares to release a stunning smartphone, it has a lot to prove. Everything we’ve seen so far suggests it’s the most capable smartphone ever, and it really shows what 2017 will be all about.

The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will be the best of the S7 and Note 7. All combined in one stylish device with a giant screen. Now we know that not everyone wants a big phone. And the Galaxy S8 will have a 5.8-inch display with the 6.2-inch Galaxy S8 Plus. It sounds crazy, but they will be the same size as previous Samsung phones.

As you can see from the image above, Samsung has managed to thin the bezels by a ton. The front is all-screen by shrinking the bezel and removing the fingerprint scanner to the rear. Add twice the storage, a great camera, big battery cells and more, and this is the phone you’ll get.

The only issue we see with standby is latency. Because the Note 7 recall has caused Samsung to be more cautious. They added an 8-point battery review and delayed the Galaxy S8 launch event to March 29. Yes, this is coming fast. You won’t be able to buy one until the end of April, though. Still, it’ll be worth the wait.

So it will be later than previous years but it’s worth it. If you don’t need a phone right now and can wait a few more months, this would be a great decision. These phones have a beautiful display and look pretty sharp.

LG G6 Edition

If you can’t wait until April when we expect the Galaxy S8 to launch, LG may have the perfect solution and timing. We know many of you are thinking about the LG G5 and instantly wipe the LG G6, but bear with us for a minute.

For 2017, LG has completely changed its approach to the smartphone market. They added premium all-glass and metal design, waterproofing, and a similar small bezel to a large screen. Like the Galaxy S8, it has a 5.7-inch screen with rounded edges, an improved dual camera on the back and water resistant. This is the year LG can finally take on Samsung, which is one more reason why it’s a better choice than the Galaxy S7.

Unfortunately, the LG G6 has the same processor as the Google Pixel (fast but not the 2017 model) and only 32GB of storage. However, everything else about it puts it on the same high as the upcoming Samsung phones and iPhone 8.

HTC U Ultra

While it has only a few improvements overall, the new HTC U Ultra is another option to consider. Everything about it nudges the Galaxy S7 slightly on paper, except maybe the battery life. It also rocks a massive 5.7-inch display while sporting a beautiful design similar to the Galaxy S7. Then a second screen like LG.

The HTC U Ultra has a sleek new premium design, a good camera, a fingerprint scanner, and that second screen is actually pretty useful. Starting at $749 it’s a bit pricey and not sold by carriers, so get a lock if you’re interested. The reviews weren’t the best, but HTC fans should enjoy everything it has to offer.

Better than the Galaxy S7, it won’t be able to compete with some flagship phones in 2017. Still, it’s something to consider, and that’s what we’re here for.

Other Competition

Everything else will be added to this last category, for the sake of time and probably because they won’t be here until summer or later. We’re talking about the OnePlus 5, which should have been the best $449 smartphone on the planet when it was released. OnePlus 3 was excellent. Yes, they are said to have taken Samsung and skipped four. It’s going to five. Also, Lenovo in charge of Motorola has big plans for its 2017 smartphones.

We might see another Moto X alongside some kind of new and improved modular Moto Z. Also, both LG and HTC have stated that they will have another flagship phone this summer. The reason it came late is because Samsung is getting all the new Snapdragon 835 platform processors for its phones. What computing platform makes these phones so capable and powerful? The early arrival of the LG V30 and a new HTC 11.

And while it may not run Android, this will be a huge year for Apple. 10 years anniversary since the first iPhone. We may see an iPhone 7s or the company may go straight to the iPhone 8. There are also some nice renders floating around. Not to mention the rumored iPhone X. It’s an idea, isn’t it?

Last but not least, Google. In 2016, the first phone “made inside and out” was released by Google. It’s called Pixel and Pixel XL. Many have called it the best Android smartphone ever or of the year. And while he didn’t get everything right, he was extremely impressive for his first try.

we have great hopes and expectations With Pixel 2 from Google in 2017. From a stunning new bezel-less phone to a water-resistant and premium camera. There are even some rumors circulating already. Back in 2016, the Google Pixel had the highest-rated smartphone camera ever released, running Android 7.0 Nougat first and foremost. The possibilities are endless, and Google is perfectly positioned to approach the pinnacle of market share. Expect big things from a Google Pixel 2 running Android O in October.

At the end of the day, it really depends on a user’s needs, wishes and preferences. The Galaxy S7 Edge is still great if you need a phone right now. However, so is the OnePlus 3T at a lower price. Or the upcoming LG G6. Not to mention the hugely exciting Galaxy S8 series.

Sometimes it’s nice to get a call when you find a deal, but it often pays to wait. And that will be truer than ever in 2017. Not to mention that in a few months, Galaxy S7 deals will be everywhere. Give it some time, wait to see what’s available, and then make the best choice for you.
