Which iPhone 8 color should you get? It’s one of the biggest decisions about buying the new iPhone 8 or iPhone 8 Plus, and one of the most impressive differences between iPhones. We’ll help you decide which iPhone 8 color option you should buy and why this might not be as important to most buyers as you think.
Apple added a fourth iPhone 8 color option this year, hitting us with four options, including; red silver, gold and space gray. That’s dropped from the six iPhone 7 colors last year, but there are some key points to consider when choosing your iPhone 8 color or iPhone 8 Plus color. Apple offers the same colors for each, and all colors are available on every carrier, so you don’t have to worry about privileges.
New (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 8 color option.
Apple added the Product RED iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus color option in April 2018. “This special edition (PRODUCT)RED iPhone features a stunning red and black color combination and also offers customers the opportunity to make an impact in fighting the spread of HIV and AIDS,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s VP of Product Marketing. “iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus improve everything we love about iPhone, including more beautiful Retina HD displays than ever, the most powerful and smartest chip ever in a smartphone with the A11 Bionic, and more advanced cameras for incredible photos and videos. . We’re proud to support this bold new iPhone (RED) and hope our customers think it’s as special as we are.”
The new iPhone 8 design features a glass back that can change your views on using a case and impress your desired iPhone 8 color. Apple is introducing a new gold iPhone 8 color that is slightly different from the gold iPhone 7, so you’ll want to take a closer look at it whenever possible. Apple still uses two different front colors for the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, which are more important to some users than the overall color.
Best iPhone 8 Color for Watching Movies
If you like watching movies on your iPhone, choose a black faceplate.
If you plan to use this massive 5.8-inch display for watching movies, you’ll probably want to go with the iPhone 8 color option in Space Gray or Red. Those are the only ones with black front. This will better disappear when watching movies. This is why your HDTV is not surrounded by white frames. Ideally, your focus should be on your screen and the bezels should fade into the background. This remains important on the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, which still have rather large bezels.
While there aren’t any issues with the white iPhone bezel you’ll find in the silver and gold models, it won’t provide the same viewing experience as the space gray iPhone 8.
The Most Stylish iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus Colors
Red and Gold are the most stylish iPhone 8 color options.
With its glass back and new look, the golden iPhone 8 color option is the most stylish color you can choose. We’re seeing a lot of iPhone 8 cases that mix designs with the open spaces of the case to create cool color combinations of gold and sometimes silver. The latest Product Red iPhone 8 color selection is even more stunning if you plan to keep your iPhone 8 out of the case.
Every iPhone version has a huge demand for gold or other special colors, and this will likely be one of the hardest to find in stock right away. You don’t need this gold color to let people know you have the new iPhone, as it’s the back glass, but it’s the only new color for the iPhone 8. Apple has offered Gold before, but this is a different color.
If you want the safest choice to fit basically everything, choose the silver iPhone 8 as it will reflect the colors around you.
iPhone 8 Color Options
Check out the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus color options below to see how they look on both sides. You can check them out in person at an Apple Store, or most carriers, where there will be samples of every available color.
Here are the iPhone 8 color combinations you can choose from in 2018.
iPhone 8 Color Scratches
Apple boasts that the glass of the iPhone 8 is the most durable glass available, so in theory it should hold up pretty well to scratches and dings. However, scratches on the glass are a real concern.
In most cases, a lighter color like silver or gold will show fewer scratches than a darker color like space gray. If you want to play it safe and plan to use your iPhone 8 without a case, choose a lighter color.
iPhone 8 Color Fading and Wearing
Typically, we’re concerned with how well the aluminum cladding will hold up on many iPhone models, but with a new back glass, improper maintenance is less likely to cause changes to the iPhone cladding.
Previously, we’ve seen iPhone colors change slightly lighter due to exposure to sweat, water, and debris inside a case. With the rear glass this shouldn’t be an issue, so we don’t have an up-to-date recommendation on which of the new iPhone 8 colors is the most durable over the long term. We will update with real world information.
iPhone 8 Cases
Consider how your iPhone 8 would look in a case.
It’s a good idea to consider how your chosen iPhone 8 color will look inside a case. Many people use a case to keep their iPhone safe or to add to the iPhone’s look and style. In some cases, you can see the iPhone color. Some of the great Case-Mate options are clear with designs to show off the color choice and stack a design on top of each other.
In other cases, you will only see the front of the phone, so you have to decide whether you prefer a white front or a black one. You can see what the iPhone looks like in some of the iPhone 8 case options below.
Which iPhone 8 Color Should I Buy?
You are the only one who can choose the best iPhone 8 color for you, but since we have multiple color options, we gravitated towards space gray specifically for the black front and the overall good look it offers. My wife wanted the rose gold iPhone 6s, but once she remembered her iPhone was 99% in a case, she opted for the silver iPhone and got a rose gold Mophie case.
Space gray was the most popular color for Gotta Mobile readers for the iPhone 6 and lost to Rose Gold for the iPhone 6s. Black, now again Space Gray, was the number one choice for the iPhone 7.
