WatchOS Version 2.1: What’s New

Alongside the release of iOS 9.2, Apple has released a new update in the form of watchOS 2.1 for Apple Watch owners.

The new update isn’t a major update and that shouldn’t be too surprising since watchOS 2 is out recently, but watchOS 2.1 includes some much needed bug fixes and performance improvements.

Many Apple Watch users are not quite satisfied with the performance of the smart watch lately. Third-party apps were really slow and Siri’s performance was less than necessary. Fortunately, there are a few fixes mentioned in the changelog that point to improvements in third-party apps.

Overall, however, don’t expect major changes in this update as it’s mostly seen as a maintenance update that may or may not show improvements to some Apple Watch users.

Nothing too special here, but that’s okay. We probably don’t expect another major Apple Watch update until next year, when we can see watchOS 3 launch, but there aren’t any big rumors about it yet.

To install the latest Apple Watch update, go to the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and tap on it. Select from there and the new watchOS 2.1 update should appear. Tap on it downwards to begin the update process.

Keep in mind, though, that your Apple Watch must have at least 50% charge for the update to be installed, and that the Apple Watch is placed on its charger and within range of your iPhone.

The Apple Watch is more than six months old, but it’s still a fairly new device. However, recent rumors have suggested that Apple may introduce a new Apple Watch model early next year alongside the introduction of the iPhone 6c.

Many people may have thought that Apple would not release a new Apple Watch model so soon, but that may be the case next year. The Apple Watch was first launched in April, and it’s possible that Apple may launch the Apple Watch 2 around the same time next year, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens.

However, if you haven’t bought an Apple Watch yet and are undecided about it, it might be best to wait for the Apple Watch 2 to come out before diving in. However, the Apple Watch is probably the hot item during the holiday season, so don’t be shy if you really want it now.
