Notifications are an integral part of our daily smartphone use. They are almost like a bridge connecting us to our favorite apps. Without them, we wouldn’t know how many important calls, emails and messages we would miss. Unfortunately, this is exactly what happens to many iPhone users.
Whether the notification issue on iPhone is limited to a specific app or system-wide, we have compiled a list of possible solutions to fix notification issues on iPhone permanently. So let’s get started.
1. Restart iPhone
Sometimes, a minor software glitch can be the reason why your iPhone is not getting notifications. Fortunately, such problems are usually fixed by simply restarting the iPhone. To do this, hold the power button and use the slider to turn it off. Wait a minute or two and then turn your iPhone back on.
2. Disable Focus Mode
As the name suggests, Focus Mode (previously known as Do Not Disturb Mode) is a useful iPhone feature that silences your iPhone and lets you focus on a specific activity. When enabled, it won’t let your iPhone alert you for calls and notifications you receive. So you can make sure you don’t accidentally enable Focus Mode.
To turn Focus Mode off, swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen to bring up the Control Center. Now click on the crescent icon to disable it.
3. Disable Timed Focus Mode
Besides disabling Focus Mode, you also need to make sure that it is not configured to be enabled on a schedule.
To do this, open the Settings app and go to Focus. Now tap on Do Not Disturb.
Scroll down to the Automatically Open section. Disable any set of automatic triggers. Repeat this process for the rest of your Focus profiles.
4. Turn Off Notification Summary
With iOS 15, Apple brought a lot of changes to the way you manage notifications on iPhone. And Notification Summary is one of those features. When enabled, this can prevent certain apps from sending notifications right away.
To disable Notification Summary, open Settings on your iPhone and go to Notifications. Now go to Schedule Summary and turn it off.
5. Check the App’s Notification Settings
If the notification problem on your iPhone is limited to only one or two apps, you can try checking the notification preferences for that particular app. Here’s how.
Stage 1: Launch the Settings app on your iPhone. Scroll down to find the app for which notifications are not working.
Step 2: Now tap on Notifications and turn on the switch next to Allow Notifications if it isn’t already.
Additionally, make sure the app is allowed to send alerts immediately and display them via Lock Screen, Notification Center and Banners.
6. Update the App
If an app is unable to send notifications, you should check for updates for the app. You may be using an older version of the app that is no longer compatible with your iPhone or has internal bugs. So, go ahead and update the app to see if it helps with the notification issue.
7. Update iOS
If you haven’t updated your iPhone in a while, now is the time to do it. Sometimes, apps that are not compatible with the iOS version you are using may not be able to send notifications on iPhone. So, you can try updating your iPhone to the latest version available.
8. Reset Your iPhone
If all else fails, you might consider resetting your iPhone. Consider this a last resort as it will reset all settings preferences on your iPhone to their default values. This will not delete your files or data, provided you choose the correct option and make a backup before trying it.
To reset your iPhone, open the Settings app. Go to General and tap Reset.
Next, select Reset All Settings; iPhone will ask you to enter the passcode. After that, your iPhone will be reset.
If the problem persists, you can try to wipe all data from your iPhone while doing a factory reset. This should only happen in extremely rare cases. If you decide to use this option, be sure to back up your data first.
