The Apple iPhone is getting better every year, but users are still waiting for a miracle in the charging area. While it charges relatively faster, it’s not as cool as Androids. Also, regardless of its age or cable, your iPhone may suddenly stop charging. If you land in such a situation, here are some fixes you should try without pulling or squeezing the cable.
Of course, this can be surprising. That said, you can try the following troubleshooting solutions to fix iPhone charging issue. Lets start.
1. Check the Wall Plug
We know this is a basic step and you may have checked the wall plug. However, you need to check that it is working properly and that you have correctly plugged the charging adapter into the wall socket.

If you are using an extender to charge your iPhone, make sure there is no dirt or debris in the slots of the extender.
2. Use Apple Certified Charger and Cable
The market is full of third-party wall chargers and cables to be used with the Apple iPhone. But only a few of them are Apple certified and carry authentication from Apple for use with their devices.

If you are using a cheap charger or cable from an unknown brand and are having charging issues with the iPhone, you should turn to the official charger and cable from Apple.
You can always buy these products from popular brands like Anker and continue to use iPhone without any problems.
3. Check Cable
This is the most obvious reason affecting the charging function on iPhone. Over time, you will see wear and tear on your charging cable due to heavy use.

This is particularly evident on the connector side of the cable. If you notice small cutouts there, you should choose a different cable to charge the iPhone. We recommend investing in a cable protector to ensure the longevity of the cable. They’re affordable, and they’ll help you protect all the cables you have.
4. Clean Charging Port
If you live in a dusty area, there may be quite a bit of dust in the iPhone charging port. In such cases, the charging port may affect the charging function on the iPhone.
You can use dust cleaning gel or choose painter’s tape to clean the dust from the iPhone charging port.
Do not insert a toothpick or cotton swab to clean the charging port on iPhone at this time. Toothpicks can damage the slot function and earplugs can leave small cotton marks when cleaning the slot. It will eventually break the charging function on the iPhone.
5. Remove Water from Charging Port
If there is water or moisture in the iPhone charging port, you will get an error while charging the iPhone. You should carefully dry the port and then try to charge the iPhone.

Do not try to use compressed air or a hair dryer to dry the charging port, though. You may damage small components inside the iPhone at this time.
6. Check Battery Health
As with any lithium-ion battery, the iPhone battery comes with a fixed set of charge cycles. Over time, it degrades the battery health of the device.
Let’s say you’ve been using an iPhone aggressively for five years. In such cases, your battery health may drop below 50%. This affects charging as well as battery life on the iPhone.

You can check the maximum battery capacity in Settings > Battery > Battery Health. If it’s below 50%, consider replacing the physical battery on the iPhone.
7. Disable Optimized Battery Charging
iPhone learns from your daily charging routines to wait for a charge past 80% until you need to use it to reduce battery wear.

iPhone charges very slowly, above 80% in such scenarios. You need to disable the Optimized Battery Charge toggle in Settings > Battery > Battery Health. However, we recommend keeping the Optimized Battery Charging option enabled to ensure your iPhone’s battery health lasts longer.
8. Cool down iPhone
If the iPhone temperature is high and you try to charge the device, iOS will throw an error and turn off the iPhone. So you will have to wait for it to cool before charging.
This usually occurs in an extremely hot atmosphere. We have encountered this problem several times as well. You will also encounter slow performance on iPhone. Put the phone in a cool environment then try charging the device.
No Charging Problem with iPhone
iPhone not charging is an annoying problem that needs to be overcome. Before going to the nearest Apple Store, you should go through the above list and troubleshoot iPhone not charging at home. Which trick worked for you? Share your experience in the comments section below.
