But that doesn’t mean that no preparation has been done behind the scenes.
At the end of February, we had already received the first hint about the future of the Siri dg, with some revelations, in particular the possibility that the voice assistant will one day be able to answer calls on its own, among other improvements. A new report from our colleagues at 9to5Mac yesterday confirmed that Apple does not intend to stay on the sidelines when it comes to artificial intelligence.
Apple wants to turn Siri into a true conversational companion
As a matter of fact, 9to5Mac examined the code of tvOS 16.4 beta and detected the existence of a feature called “Natural language generation for Siri”. This technology is currently only active on Apple TV and Homepod devices with the operating system installed. However, in the long run, it is highly likely that the codename given to him, “Bobcat”, will also appear in other products of the apple brand.
9to5Mac also states that the Bobcat code is also available on iPhones, iPads, and Macs. But for now, it’s a little early to tell what this new feature will actually allow. However, it’s hard not to imagine that Siri was inspired by ChatGPT and the new features that have been added to Microsoft software in recent weeks. But all this is just speculation, especially since previous reports have already indicated that the company is not considering developing its own chatbot. Therefore patience.
