Also, unlike the MacBook Pro M2, MacBook Air M2 has no cooling fan and second, it only relies on a heatsink to dissipate the heat.
Unfortunately, this cooling system is put under tremendous pressure to bring the temperature down, and it can be much worse if the MacBook owner is in a very hot and humid climate. The temperatures of the appliance can therefore rise dangerously and reach over 100 degrees in a few seconds. Fortunately, a YouTuber came up with an ingenious solution to alleviate the problem on his YouTube channel.

YouTuber Fixes MacBook Air M2 Overheating for Under $15
MaxTech YouTube channel indeed it offers a solution to reduce overheating. This requires a bit of tinkering and daring to poke around the guts of the device. The proposed solution is inexpensive and consists of: Buy a thermal pad to place on the insides of the MacBook. The YouTuber reveals the whole process in the video you can find below.
Concretely, YouTuber acts in this way and in the following points in order to reduce the high temperature of the MacBook and improve the cooling system.
- First you need to disassemble the back panel of the MacBook and separate it from the aluminum case.
- The thermal pad should be installed well above the heat sink.
- It is also possible to go further by removing the logic board to apply another piece of thermal pad to the SoC M2.
This does not significantly lower the temperature of the device, but YouTuber managed to lower the temperature a few degrees in this way. The thermal pad in question retails for just over 10 euros on Amazon.
