Mac Studio: Apple launches the most powerful computer on the market, smashing the competition

Apple pulls the heavy guns: despite its small size, mac studio it is indeed his most powerful computer at the moment. The computer is designed primarily for creative people who need tremendous computing power for graphic retouching, video editing or musical composition. But there is no doubt that it will find a place at the desks of the more demanding users (and the wealthiest!).

Mac Studio comes in a small box with 19.5 x 19.5 round shapes for a height of 9.4 cm. For comparison, the Apple TV measures 9.8 x 9.8 cm for 3.5 cm height. On the other hand, its small size does not prevent it from being an outstanding Mac, especially in the version equipped with the new M1 Ultra chip.

Mac Studio: Apple unveils a powerhouse for creators

Equipped with the M1 Max or M1 Ultra, Mac Studio is designed for creativity. Apple explains that the version equipped with the M1 Ultra can handle 18 streams of 8K ProRes 422 video, making it the first computer in the world to perform such a process. While the CPU utilizes up to 20 cores, the GPU core count can go up to 64. On the graphics processing side, the M1 Max version benefits from 64GB of combined memory, while the M1 Ultra benefits from 128GB

In terms of storage and data access, Mac Studio is fast, even very fast. Its SSD, which can hold up to 8TB of data, provides a processing speed of 7.4GB/s. The USB-C ports offer access times of 10 Gbps, while the M1 Ultra version supports Thunderbolt 4 at 40 Gbps.

On the display side, the computer can handle up to 4 Pro Display XDR displays and a 4K TV simultaneously. In other words, with such a configuration,Apple bids farewell to the Mac Pro.

Does Mac Studio get hot though? We’ll wait to make up our mind on this during a full test of the computer, but Apple assures that the cooling is particularly smooth, as the body of the device has 4000 tiny holes located on the back and bottom of the machine. Episode.

Regarding connectors, we make use of the following elements on the back:

As mentioned above, Mac Studio crashes under the choice of the following two SoCs: M1 Max or M1 Ultra. Of course, the performance won’t be the same and neither will the prices. The version equipped with M1 Max is worth 2,299 €when marketing a rich version of an M1 Ultra… 4599 Euros! Also note that the final version is shown for the price, surrounded by a 20-core M1 Ultra, a 64-core GPU, 128GB of combined memory and an 8TB SSD. 9,199 €.
