iPhones will finally be able to detect AirTags and other trackers secretly spying on you

It was time for Apple to implement its solution to fight against spy trackers. Months after its announcement and after a few tentative attempts, the latest update for iOS 17.5 finally addresses the problem in depth. A few years ago, the Cupertino company announced a partnership with Google and the Locate network to allow users to detect AirTags and other Bluetooth trackers placed on their belongings without their knowledge.

By downloading the iOS 17.5 update, compatible iPhones will now be able to alert their users when they detect a spy nearby. Smartphones are truly a device. “He was detected to be acting together with you.” when they suspect the presence of a spy tracker. It will then be possible to search for the device in question to find it easily.

Apple and Google will finally help you purge snitches

Once the tracker is found, the user will be able to access information that will help disable it so it will no longer send signals to its rightful owner. So iOS 17.5 takes advantage of the full power of Apple’s network, but also Google’s Locate network, which works thanks to millions of devices connected via Bluetooth.

However, it should be noted that this functionality is relevant only for trackers operating on these networks. For example, Motorola’s followers are not included in the list, even though the manufacturer has already announced that an update will fix this problem. Therefore, the problem is not expected to disappear completely. But given the popularity of AirTags in the market, the latter will be very seriously curbed.

iOS 17.5 also allows downloading apps directly from the developer’s website and provides access to a new wallpaper in honor of Pride Month. You can find all the new features of the update in this article.
