The new Apple iPhone Upgrade Plan makes it easy to buy the iPhone 6s now and upgrade to the iPhone 7 next year.
Apple today announced the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, and a new iPhone Upgrade plan that offers a new way to buy your iPhone at an Apple Store and lets you upgrade to a new iPhone each year.
We’ve already seen carriers cut support for two-year contracts at Apple and through various retailers, and the new iPhone Upgrade Plan is Apple jumping into the game with a 24-month payment plan at 0% interest.
Here’s what we know about iPhone Upgrade Plan This starts with the iPhone 6s release date of September 25.
The new iPhone Upgrade plan is designed for users who now want an iPhone 6s and later an iPhone 7.
You can only sign up for an iPhone Upgrade Plan at an Apple Store in the US. There is no option to use it in other countries and there is no way to do it online.
iPhone Upgrade Plan is $32 per month for iPhone 6s and $37 per month for iPhone 6s Plus. Payouts total $768 for the iPhone 6s and $888 for the iPhone 6s Plus.
If you use this plan, you’ll likely only keep the iPhone for one year, meaning the iPhone 6s with AppleCare+ is $384 and the iPhone 6s Plus is $444. This assumes you upgrade after one year.
That price is higher than if you pay with a carrier iPhone payment plan or outright, but it includes AppleCare+, which can make the premium worthwhile for many users. AppleCare+ is normally $99 for a two-year period.
What you get with the iPhone Upgrade Plan.
With the new iPhone Upgrade Plan, consumers can now purchase iPhone 6s and qualify for an annual upgrade. This means that the iPhone 7 release or whatever Apple announced in 2016 will allow users to upgrade at that time.
The iPhone you get is an unlocked model and although it has activation requirements, it has more LTE bands in it for easier user when traveling around the world.
When you upgrade, you will need to trade the old iPhone to Apple rather than sell it or use an iPhone swap service.
One trick of the new iPhone Upgrade Program is that you need to activate the iPhone on AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile or Verizon. There is no option for smaller carriers or prepaid carriers. You also need a valid credit card for this to work.
