How to Downgrade iPhone SE
If the version of iOS 15 you’re currently running on your phone is causing problems, you can try downgrading if Apple is signing outdated software.
The company is signing old software shortly after releasing the new iOS software. Once it stops signing an update, there is no way to go back. In other words, you need to act fast if you want to downgrade.
If you’re interested in the downgrade process, take a look at our guide.
what’s next
If you’re struggling with iOS 14.8.1, iOS 14.8, or an older version of iOS 14 and are determined to stay on iOS 14, you’re on your own.
Initially, it looked like Apple would allow iPhone users to stay on iOS 14 and continue to receive security updates and perhaps bug fixes for lingering issues, but that has changed.
Apple has not released a new version of iOS 14 since iOS 14.8.1 was released in October, and this update is no longer available. Devices running iOS 14.8 and lower can only upgrade to the latest version of iOS 15.
This is important because it means there will be no way to downgrade from iOS 15 to iOS 14 in the future. The only way this can happen is if Apple releases a new version of iOS 14.
So at this point, don’t expect Apple to send new versions of iOS 14 to the iPhone. If you want the latest bug fixes, you will need to upgrade to iOS 15.
Apple has confirmed that a new version of iOS 15 and iOS 15.4 is currently in beta before the public release. The company hasn’t confirmed a specific release date, but we expect a release in the spring.
If your problems are really bad, you can try downloading the iOS 15.4 beta on your iPhone SE and see if it helps improve your phone’s performance.
