iPhone SE 4: The screen would be worse, here's why 4

According to a new report out of Korea, Samsung has pulled out of negotiations to supply OLED displays for the upcoming iPhone SE 4 after Apple rejected pricing terms. Citing an industry source, ZDNet Korea claims that Samsung Display has withdrawn its offer to produce screens for Apple’s next iPhone SE model. refused to honor his price of $30 per panel.

It looks like Apple only wants to pay around $25 per unit for the 6.1-inch OLED displays rumored to be coming to the discounted iPhone lineup. In fact, as a reminder, we now know that the next iPhone SE 4 should benefit from a notched display like the previous generation iPhones.

However, choosing BOE as the sole supplier carries some risks for Apple. The other remaining candidate, Tianma, has reportedly not yet proven that it can meet Apple’s strict quality standards for these panels. Based on iPhone 13 and 14 screen specifications.

If BOE becomes the sole supplier of the displays, it will have to develop the manufacturing processes for these iPhone displays from scratch. Without relying on the expertise of a more established manufacturer like Samsung. This could open the door to quality control issues or supply shortages if the BOE encounters difficulty ramping up production.

We still need to find out faster, though, as this iPhone SE 4 is expected to launch in 2025 and form a relatively affordable entry point into the iPhone ecosystem. Now it is not yet known at what price this new device will be sold.
