iPhone 14: New A16 chip will be reserved for Pro and Pro Max models

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo made a shocking statement on his personal Twitter account about the next-generation iPhone 14, which should be released in September 2022.Not all models are as powerful as each other..

Indeed, only the 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max models can benefit from the new super-powered A16 Bionic chip, which will continue to be carved at 5nm. 14 and 14 Max models will be satisfied with the same chip as iPhone 13, A15 Bionic. It should also be noted that the A15 chip was recently equipped with the “affordable” 5G iPhone SE 2022, so it’s surprising to learn that Apple may be able to reuse it in high-end models by the end of the year.

This isn’t the first time Apple has used different chips in its iPhones.

The A15 chip is not a bad SoC as it is more powerful than any processor that can be found in Android smartphones today. However, it would be the first time in several years that Apple has decided to use different chips in the same generation iPhone. Dev had last adopted this strategy in the 5th generation. While the iPhone 5S benefits from the new A7 chip, cheaper iPhone 5C model is entitled to an A chip6.

In the current iPhone 13 generation, Apple has indeed used the same A15 chip in all smartphones, but 13 and 13 Pro aren’t exactly as powerful as each other. Indeed, the A15 chip of the Pro and Pro Max models has slightly more RAM (6GB versus 4GB) and More GPU cores than the A15 chip of the 13 and 13 mini models.

Kuo also explains in his tweet that all iPhone 14s will benefit from it. same amount of RAM i.e. 6GB. With this, iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max will use new LPDDR5 memoryand 14 and 14 Max models have LPDDR4X memory. So this contradicts previous reports which implied that Apple will use up to 8GB of RAM in its smartphones this time.
