iPhone 15: Apple found a way to promote its own cables despite switching to USB-C

A small revolution is being prepared. The European Union has managed to impose its will on Apple, and Apple will have to implement the USB-C socket in its future iPhones. The change will take effect from the date September 2023 is the date when the iPhone 15 should be released. While the company has accepted the Commission’s decision, it doesn’t seem ready to give up on the unexpected financial gains brought by MFi (Made for iOS) licenses.

According to Apple expert Ming Chi Kuo, The Cupertino company found a way to continue running its MFi program (Made for iPhone/iPod/iPad). Certified products will benefit from the best features, such as fast charging for the 20 W USB-C power adapter or faster transfer speeds for certified cables. So Apple will restrict the performance of non-MFi cables. According to Ming Chi Kuo, if the iPhone 15 achieves the expected success, sales of the 20 W USB-C power adapter should increase as well.

Only MFi certified cables provide optimal performance on iPhone 15

Costing only €25 in the French Apple store, the 20W USB-C charger will offer the best performance/price ratio to all users of the new Apple brand smartphone. And again, for such a price, customers can even buy a few so they don’t have to move their chargers from one place to another. The financial expert believes that Charger sales could increase 30%-40% each year.

So the fears of observers seem to have been confirmed. To take advantage of the optimal performance of the iPhone 15 and next-generation Apple smartphones, you will need to purchase MFi-certified accessories. Otherwise, you’ll have to make do with slower transfer speeds.
