Golden_Reviewer, on its Twitter account, compared the performance of the new A16 processor in the iPhone 14 Pro with several of its rivals that can be found in high-end Android smartphones. These include the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, MediaTek Dimensity 9000, Pixel 6’s Google Tensor or Galaxy S22’s Exynos 2200.
As confirmed by various tests on 3DMark Wildlife Extreme Mobile, GFXBench 3.1 1080p or GFXBench Aztec Vulkan/Metal 1440p, The Apple A16 is not only more efficient than its competitors, but above all, much more energy efficient.. This largely explains why iPhones are considered the benchmark for battery life in the smartphone market, even if the latest iOS 16 update has damaged the durability of some models.
Apple A16 more efficient than Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1
Goldran_Reviewer’s results show that the Apple A16 managed to score 3359 points in 3DMark Wildlife Extreme Mobile with 441.1 points per Watt. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, on the other hand, scores 2812 for 401.7 points per Watt. Qualcomm’s chip is therefore less powerful and less energy efficient.
At GFXBench 3.1 1080p, the iPhone 14 Pro chip peaked at 195 FPS, or 23.5 FPS per Watt. Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is less efficient at only 185 FPS, but GPU seems more efficient (24.6 FPS per watt). We remind you that these results are very encouraging for Qualcomm. It will launch a new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor in Novemberto. Secondly, Xiaomi should equip 13 from the end of the year and pit could finally let Android smartphones beat Apple.
In addition to offering much more raw power than Android smartphones, we remember that the iPhone 14 Pro dethroned almost all competitors in photos among DXOMARK experts. Even Apple’s newest smartphone has the best display on the market todayagain according to DXOMARK.
The GPU performance improvement for the Apple A16 may be marginal, but better efficiency is still welcome. And before the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 was released, the A16 is still the fastest mobile SoC. pic.twitter.com/AbCHAgnTWg
