As previously announced in other reports, the upcoming iOS 18 software update will bring various new features to iPhones based on artificial intelligence and machine learning aimed at making the user experience much simpler and Apple is also planning new features in its own web browser, Safari.
According to AppleInsider sources, a new smart search assistant is at the top of the list of additions. Leveraging Apple’s on-device AI processing, Smart Search Identify important topics, phrases, and other relevant information on web pages by intelligently summarizing content.

What do we know about the AI features dedicated to Safari?
Smart Search will help you quickly grasp the highlights of complex websites and online articles without having to read every word. This is sort of an AI-generated “TL;DR” or overview of information.
Safari also allows users to Selectively and permanently remove unwanted parts of websites before sharing or bookmarking them. You no longer need to crop screenshots: you can delete sections in a few clicks; the changes are preserved even after you view the page again.
To facilitate access to these new artificial intelligence features, Safari’s user interface is expected to feature a revamped quick access menu that pops out of the address bar. This menu will group together different tools and actions on the page that are currently in separate menus, such as the share sheet.
According to the report, these updates to Safari will eventually come to iPadOS and macOS and will help further integrate the experience. Changes to Safari, especially for iPad and Mac users, could bring the app closer to its iPhone counterpart. Apple may well elaborate on all this, as it is planning a conference dedicated to AI WWDC 2024 from June 10.
